ATAR and Ranks

Hey guys, i go to a school with around 450 people in my grade.
on the HSC ninja honour roll i searched up all my subjects and the amount of people that got band 6 last year and the year before. For example, in general maths i am ranked 10/223, an average of 17 students usually achieve a band 6 in general maths every year
However, my overall mark is 81% and overall rank is 10????
How does that work out?

Hey! There can be fluctuation year to year, and the performance in the final HSC exam can make a huge difference to things too. It's definitely not as simple as, "17 got it last year, so close to 17 will get it this year." Heaps of stuff affects it - Give this a read!

I think you're in a good spot to get a Band 6 though, with that internal result!! Best of luck ;D
