Hey guys,
So next sem I'm doing these two units, so I'd appreciate any advice you can give me. Should I start any pre-preparation, if so, should I just read the textbook/ get notes off someone?
Really trying to boost up my grades next sem :)
Thanks

Hey! I’ve done ENG1003 and I’m doing ENG2005 next semester as well so I can only speak for ENG1003.

ENG1003 is kind of a strange unit because you spend the majority of the semester learning how to code - but the exam itself is mostly theory-based. Make sure you get a little experience using JavaScript, HTML and CSS before you start the semester (mainly JavaScript) and understand how they all work together, as they’ll probably ask something about that on the exam. Look through the syllabus and have a basic understanding of why you need to know each of the topics, in what scenario they would be useful, etc.. For example you’ll learn about things like hashing, which is a method used to prevent hacking. What kinds of attacks would hashing prevent? How could hashing be overcome by a hacker? Things like that.

Understanding how to code will get you marks throughout the semester - but understanding why you code will get you marks in the exam. In the last few weeks you will learn a lot of the theory that will be in the exam. Look through this now (topics are in the unit guide) before you learn it in class so you can have all the acronyms memorised. And make sure you get your weekly assignment done to maximise marks.

Good luck!
