Going over the word limit

Hello,

If the word limit is, say 800-1000 words for a sac, would I be penalized if I wrote 1002 words? I know it might seem silly, but I don't want to lose marks for such a small error.

Thanks

Typically the word limit has a 10-15% clearence, so for 1000 words you can't go over 1150 and shouldn't be under 850.
"Don't give up, and don't put too much effort into things that don't matter"-Albert Einstein, probably.
