Use this thread to discuss what the weather is doing at the present time, or what is forecasted for the future. It's really windy in the west! Just in case Newport station gets flooded or w/e again, I'm catching a train 40mins earlier than needed. 😅
In Melbourne, it's been absolutely whack recently. Super hot, then super rainy. Yesterday the storms were intense; all of my relevant trains and trams were cancelled indefinitely.
In saying that, I still prefer it to the heat. Much nicer.
EDIT: It's just started hailing. Blimey.
I was in that area for athletics and a little while back when that red patch passed over us, it prompted the cancellation of the event.Spoiler(https://i.imgur.com/gLYZhEr.png)
I really like the instability of Melbourne's weather. The unpredictability provides some much needed excitement to my life.I guess this wouldn't be the case one day in the future...
The best thing about it is the fact that it's so... Australian. I mean, not only are the crocs and sharks and spiders and snakes and berries trying to kill you, so is the actual sky.
Wish me luck walking to and from work in the storm tonight, folks :')
Sydney is so unpredictable. I’m at work and it was crazy hot around lunch time. But the weather died down two hours later and it started raining 😩😩Cute.
Don't know what you're all on about, I've got blue sky dotted with fluffy clouds and bright summer sunshinesame............
Cute.An accurate visual representation of what the users above have been trying to say.Spoiler(https://images.ecosia.org/9TtUgmNm4qfRurQ7vm5xbTqEeuw=/0x390/smart/http%3A%2F%2Ffunnymemes.com.au%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2012%2F09%2FMelbourne-meme.jpg)

Absolutely abhor Melbourne's unexpected and abnormal sudden change in weather -___-
Sucks to live in Australia just because of the weather :[
Come over to the sunny side now. Australia, a great place for families, an opportunity for you, fine for your wife, great for your children.
And now the mosquitoes have eaten my hands.
And arms
And feet
And NECK MOSQUITOES WHY
Add mosquitoes to my list of ‘Things in Australia That Want To Kill You’ right next to the weather. :(
I think I’m melting.Same :(
I see the 33 on my weather forecast and I'm like ew, but then I think about the 40+ conditions in Melbourne and I feel more at ease.44 degrees whilst putting out the washing today. :'(

Just got back from a fam camping trip to the Snowy Mountains, and it was terrifically balmy! Some of the overnight temps were well below 10 degrees, and some days I even wore a jumper. :o
Though I still managed to get really sunburnt somehow?? Perhaps it was the longer daylight hours - didn't get dark until about 9.30pm, because the altitude of our campsite was 1500m. ;D
Sounds great!
Sunburn-wise, though, I'd expect you would get more sunburnt at a higher altitude because there's less atmosphere to block the UV. The rough numbers on Wikipedia suggest you'd be exposed to 20 - 30% more UV up there. Still a great part of the world to visit, though...
lovely and cool
Randomly started raining. Love it.It's been raining here too, as well as a bit of thunder! I love it! ^-^
It's been raining here too, as well as a bit of thunder! I love it! ^-^Don't you love Queensland weather in Melbourne. ;D High Humidity and Thunderstorms.
Edit: Lightning too!
Gross weather in general tbh. What Adelaide cops we almost certainly will cop similar - always moves in our direction.
Melb - outer suburbs are copping it particularly in the NE/E, higher than predicted temps (usually it's always around 1-2 higher than the CBD but this year it's blown out to in some cases 4-5 higher). I actually don't even think the Bureau knew what the temp was gonna be today - they kept shuffling Thurs and Fri's temps around.
Dunno how anybody concentrates in this heat.Tonight and tomorrow Melb(https://i.imgur.com/D8aol76.png)
"An oppressive night". Gee, that sounds nice.
It’s already 35 degrees 😥Feels so warm in the city. :(
It is
43 degrees
And i
Am going
To die
Thank you that is all.
Frankly I'm hoping it gets up to 47 so we can take the record back from Adelaide.
Pyrrhic Victory exhibit AI'm just concerned for the years 12s from my school on study camp right now lol
38 degrees right now but gonna rain and drop heavily in the next few hours
38 degrees right now but gonna rain and drop heavily in the next few hoursIt dropped from 34 at home to 31 in the past hour, hopefully relief comes your way soon! :)
21 for me tomorrow. Moderately keen. Also keen. Especially as I'm up in the middle of nowhere tomorrow! :))
It’s raining, it’s pouring...
Self-portrait? I spent all of yesterday at a childrens home in Hyderabad, and being called "Anna" (big brother) all the time makes you feel so old.(https://i.imgur.com/9Cf3RTG.jpg)
Based on what I've been seeing for the morning and early afternoon-if we get a month's worth of rain later today as predicted. It will be the most dramatic as fuck thing. If not, the worst incorrect prediction.
Can I get a big "yee haw" for it not being a million degrees today? 🤠YEE HAW!
YEE HAW!
After all the sunny days (and migranes) I finally decided to wear sunglasses. I got to Monash before 8 and because of the clouds it was hardly even light... I can't win :'(

Wearing three jumpers. Still cold.Agreed.
Wearing three jumpers. Still cold.I recommend the scarf, beanie and thick sock combo too. Just retaining a little more body heat from areas where most heat escapes :)
it's finally winter in Sydney

Yee haw, Joseph.
Yee. Haw.
Today Melbourne had a deceiving look of sunny-ness from outside a window...once you walk outside you get a preview of what it's like to live in Antarctica ::)
Today, I saw a giant army of hailstones bouncing along the ground as they crashed to the earth, as if they were all stones skipping across a large body of water, guided by strong gusts of wind.
I'm wearing a t shirt and shorts for the first time in many months. This is very nice. The weather up here doesn't permit you to wear anything else. I don't own a single pair of long pants :o
The weather up here doesn't permit you to wear anything else. I don't own a single pair of long pants :oTo the best of my knowledge there has only been one day since the start of winter where the max temp was predicted to reach 20 degrees All this week the min is in the range of -1 to 1 (which is an improvement from earlier). And this has been one of Canberra's warmest winters.

Wow what a day it was today, hey Victorians?
I wore a dress to work and still sweated \(OwO)/

What has been happening with Melbourne's weather this week? From 33 degrees to 14 and raining in the span of four or so days. I can't wait for summer!in the wise words of a certain tortoise I know;

Rain... On the weekend... AFter a week of perfect weather while we were stuck at school?I personally think rain is pretty groovy, so I'm welcoming it this weekend.
Thanks universe.
I personally think rain is pretty groovy, so I'm welcoming it this weekend.I like the rain from behind a window, but rain isn't great weather for a walk or bike ride. (I guess neither is 35 degrees in the middle of the day...)
I love thunderstorms (when I'm enjoying them by choice not forced to be out in them). Lightening is so pretty.AGREED
I love thunderstorms (when I'm enjoying them by choice not forced to be out in them). Lightening is so pretty.I think rainy days are great on weekends because you don't really have to go anywhere if you don't want to; you can snuggle up or go out and get wet for the fun of it, whereas on weekdays you have to go to school or work so it's more miserable. The storms this weekend in particular have been wonderful, because the rain is cool but the actual air is quite warm.
The weather around Sydney and the outer regions was very weird today. First, it was really hot and sunny in the morning, then suddenly a storm appeared out of nowhere and was quite ferocious. It consisted of lightning, rain and very strong winds! :o
Hopefully all of the weather around the country gets better! ;D
As soon as I walked out of the gym, the wind just took me back. Felt great though, not gonna lie ;D
Felt great though, not gonna lie ;D
Holy Shit it's HOT 🥵Yeah, although the weather yesterday was actually quite nice.
Yeah, although the weather yesterday was actually quite nice.
yeah for sure, solid 25 degrees where you can actually walk outside and enjoy the weather, unlike today where the sun is just murdering anything underneath it.
Edit: Although I am grateful I'm not in NSW because those bushfires seem crazy. Hope everyone gets safely away from those fires.
R.I.P those two firefighters as well.
Beautiful 44 here right now.
"We're not going to see any real rain in January"Same in Melbourne, this hurts a lot :-\
"We're surrounded by fires in all directions so regardless of which way the wind blows, I don't see any reprieve from the smoke in the foreseeable future"
y a y
Same in Melbourne, this hurts a lot :-\The air quality up here is averaging around 20X worse than yours 😂 (although it’s actually the best it’s been in weeks atm).
Copious rain in Melbourne today!Just started to hail for me
No rain for me yet. I think we got our fair share of rain on Wednesday :(The storm on Wednesday was absolutely terrible! :(
Very strong winds in Melbourne. Heard a few people had their power go out.
It was windy. It was cold. In excess of 40 trees fell over roads and 2 rooves blew off. I left home at 5 pm for the first job that came through. I didnt get back home until almost 4am. I have been awake since 6:45 when jobs started coming through again and my pager wouldnt let me nap, i don't regret but its still sucks especially because nowhere was open to get food so all I've eaten in 24 hours is a bowl of cereal and 2 red bulls. Joys of a VICSES vol.Thank you for the amazing help you and all the other SES volunteers provide! Hope you catch up on some well deserved rest once things have calmed down.
Official numbers record over 260 call outs overnight.
Thank you for the amazing help you and all the other SES volunteers provide! Hope you catch up on some well deserved rest once things have calmed down.We love sunny weather! I've got my fingers crossed it stays that way!
After how crazy yesterday's weather was, it's so sunny and still and glorious at my place today!
We love sunny weather! I've got my fingers crossed it stays that way!I heard tomorrow's going to be sunny! :)
Today is perfect - low temperature but warm sun, clear skies, no wind... so good. ;DI sat outside in the sun of (a slightly cheeky long lunch)
Every time September 1 comes around I mourn that the delicious winter of cosy blankets and easy exercise and cuddly snuggling and hot soup is over. You forgot 'melting brain so you can't think'.
Coming up next: burning heat, harsh blinding brightness, inability to exercise, sleepless nights, and constant sticky sweat. Woooooooo.
But also: ice-cream, literally any cold dessert, sunshine in the parks with an occasional cold breeze, smell of flowers, lots and lots of birds flying, Halloween, Christmas, BOXING DAY, and with a little bit of luck maybe even shopping with your friends at the end of the year!
Ngl, I pretty much only eat ice-cream in winter, because eating ice-cream in summer means leaving the house to go get ice-cream. Sunshine in the park means sunburns (doesn't matter how much sunscreen I lather on - lather being an apt description of how much I apply lol),I have brown skin so I have never really had sunburns!
and honestly have never noticed a smell from flowers? Also unsure why birds is anything other than just a thing.BAHAHA I live in a neighbourhood with a lot of birds and flowers and it's full of nature, so I enjoy seeing new species come and go at different seasons. Also, almost all my neighbours have a lot of flowers in their lawn so it's nice to see some colour whenever I go on walks and come back from school.
Halloween is this thing that I'm confused why we celebrate and never cared for. Also, boxing day is the literal worst, I have a fear of crowds so large you can't escape, and that's all BD is D:I don't like the celebrating part of halloween and I've never celebrated it, but I enjoy seeing decorations out on people's lawns. I realise that I sound like some stalker creep who just sits outside people's houses all day.
Heat this morning: wow, nice summer vibes!Heat this morning: it's too hot
Heat this afternoon: hmm kinda lethargic...
Heat tonight: please, let it rain, I want to sleep
