Piano players unite!

I lurve talking about playing the piano, because it's something I've loved for about ten years. I was never pushed to play, so I never ended up a four-hours-a-day-playing-piano-concertos-at-age-eight type like some of you probably did, but I've always loved it.

What's your piano (or other instrument!) playing story?

What pieces has anyone been learning or loving lately?!

Piano related: I can barely play anything, so no comment here :p
However I love the sound of piano music 😍

Non-piano related: Learning to play the Knight Rider theme on bass guitar is a task in itself when I'm a tad rusty 😂

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS THREAD!!! :D
Piano related story: My parents told me that I asked my mum to let me have piano lessons when I was two or three and she refused, thinking I was too young. I was a really strong-willed child back then so I got really cross, marched to the piano and apparently played Mary Had a Little Lamb by ear... After that, my parents decided to teach me piano until I turned nine hahaha...
I stopped playing a few years ago but I've been picking it up again since last year... :D I'm learning/ trying to learn :'( Chopin's Revolutionary Etude... I used to be really sick of playing the piano, especially while doing grades, but now I really enjoy it and it's an awesome way to relax and de-stress.... especially in yr 12... T_T

I started piano at age 3, mum was a piano teacher and introduced me to it. Had offers to go to Juilliard School of Music after high school but declined. Still playing a bit nowadays whenever I'm taking a break from research ;)

This is when I was 13 performing at Melbourne Arts Centre: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jl-rOszM67M

YAY I'm also learning that etude :D well, in the loose sense of the word; it's one of the many pieces I've lately been picking up and practising at completely random intervals.

I begged and begged to play the piano but wasn't allowed lessons till I was nine, though I started self-teaching from a book beforehand. I was... enthusiastic.

Fun fact: turns out Joseph41 and I shared the same piano teacher long before we met on AN 8)

This is insane and you put us all to shame! That's on a totally different level from our (well, my) amateurish enjoyment of playing :-[  (I love Saint-Saens' 2nd so much though <3)

Also: good to see the famed TrueTears back hahahaha, welcome :D

Revolutionary is one of my fave etudes! Been playing that piece for so many years, on and off.

This was the only time I had recorded it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=camKt2ff3p0 but I played it much better during my prime haha

Also: good to see the famed TrueTears back hahahaha, welcome :D

Holy shit you make my attempts at that etude sound poor. :') I like the fact that I can see your pedalling in that video though - it's rare in most YouTube vids and pedalling fast sections is one of my greatest weaknesses.

Another piano player here!

I started when I was 7 or 8 IIRC but admittedly, I haven't played for a couple of years now. :-[ I've been meaning to get back into it for a while now, so I'm thinking I might use these holidays to get started again.

I'm still not over seeing Ludovico Einaudi in concert earlier this year. ::) Highly, highly recommend, and if you ever have the chance to go see him, GO. He is completely enthralling.

I'm not quite at TrueTears' level, but I'm pretty flash at finding Middle C.

Mainly play piano and some trumpet but can do little bits of other instruments.

Been playing piano since I was around 4 or 5 (lessons from 5 IIRC)  :o

Really only played 1 hour a day LOL

I used to play a fair bit of piano but ended up quitting due to HSC. I really want to get back into it. I want to learn how to play the Revolutionary Etude one day :D
