Bamp for old thread.

My favourite headphones are on sale for $125 at the moment. They are on sale at a physical shop in Kew, you can go audition many different headphones there (some cost several thousand dollars).

If you are shopping for a good pair of headphones, I *strongly* recommend these.

http://www.addictedtoaudio.com.au/Audio-Technica-ATHES7-Black

Audio-Technica ATH-ES7

- only $125

- Amazing sound for its price range, good clarity, tonally warm. It's not the best audiophile-quality sound or the most accurate/fast headphones, but it is leaps and bounds better than any Beats/Bose or any designer headphones you can find at Myers/David Jones/JB/etc, even those that cost $500.

- Low impedance and high sensitivity, you can get very loud music even from your phone

- Amazing bass. So much bass you'll feel like you're in a nightclub. Unlike most other headphones around this price range, these actually *can* reproduce sub-bass tones (<50Hz) that are the deep reverberations usually only audible with large subwoofers

- Closed cans, they don't leak sound and have quite good isolation, good for public places + travel

- Over-ears, these aren't ear-buds. They aren't as comfortable as full circumaural headphones, but they are surprisingly comfortable for on-ear headphones

- Portable, they are foldable and relatively small. Not quite in the same sense that earpods can fit in your pocket, but they are small enough to fit in any bag.

- Shiny. They are actually shiny, like mirror-finished shiny.

Audio Technica ATH-T400
I bought these for $20 (their RRP is actually $60-100, actually). They are incredible. I used to use turtle beaches and I thought they were amazing. I put the headphones on and I was shocked, they were incredible. They are extremely comfortable too, it's just a pillow on your ears. The only con I can think of is that it has no mic.

Pretty much, all the latest Audio Technica are awesome.
I put my $100 turtle beaches under my bed and don't plan on using them again, EVER.

Audio Technica is awesome.

If anyone's interested, I work at Volume Store and I can apply sizable discounts to headphones to get them close to import price! No guarantees it will be cheaper than the internet though.

Do you guys have any IEM's around $30 that would be better than UE300's? :) I'm thinking about buying new in ear phones! I bought UE100's, broke em, UE200's broke em, UE300's, lost right now haha.

I bought a pair of these cheapo earphones.

http://www.yourbrainwavz.com/beta.html

The sound quality is decent for the price but it has shoddy build quality.

No you wouldn't. Trust me.

Come and listen to them instore if you'd like, obviously no pressure, I'm just posting this up here as a courtesy gesture.

The M50s sound better to me and everyone I ask.

That is if you want them for their sound quality, though -  not other purposes.

I got a pair of AKG K550's for under $200 and they're amazing  :o They are relatively high impedance though so I really need to get myself an amp/DAC as my phone can't power them all too well  :(  And they are HUGE! the pads cover half my head haha, I need some portables desperately.

My M50s broke :(

Debating an upgrade to something far more substantial or just getting them repaired (which is not easy AFAIK)

Got a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770s. They're pretty sweet. Listening to this through them and the bass just ripples: https://soundcloud.com/disprove/disprove-negative-dots-1

Digging this up.
Martin Logan mikros 90
They are not that comfortable at first (it's really tight around your head and ears) and they are over ear. However with the price of around $100.  the sound quality is superb once you give it around 30 hours burn in. After modding it, the bass is just, impressive, I have not heard anything better than those under $500.
