What are your academic goals for the rest of 2020?

Obviously 2020 has been a pretty unusual year. I'm interested to hear what your academic (or I guess other) goals are for the rest of 2020 - the idea is sort of to re-set a little bit and focus on the next few months.

Are your goals more process-focused or outcome-focused? Are they subject-specific or broader?

List 'em here. 👇

P.S. A potentially relevant article: How to set "aims" and "goals" - and what that actually means.

As the HSC exams start in about 54 days, I feel like my goals are more processed and outcome focussed at the same time, because I know the "process" (doing the work) is necessary for the "outcome" (getting the atar):

📌I would like to get a high atar
📌Attempt as many past papers and questions I can for every subject
📌Stick to a consistent routine schedule and attempt at least one past paper every day
📌Thoroughly understand and memorise my notes

Nice one. Do you have any strategies in place to reach those goals?

Yes I do :), I will make sure to follow my created study timetable and take each day as it comes, trying to make the most of the available time I have left before the HSC exams.

Another strategy is that I will record myself saying my notes and listen to them regularly throughout the day.

Also, just making sure every single minute counts towards these goals. Eg. If I have to wait a certain amount of time, I will use that time towards either listening to notes or completing questions!

What are your goals for the rest of the year? :)

I would like to:
get a 92+ ATAR because that's what I need for the course I want
get at least one 40+
top class (at least going into exam, even if not afterwards) in English (would like to do same for Texts, but not likely to)
have complete notes for all subjects
do enough practice exams/essays

Also, current goal: write/at least plan out properly 6 essays before Wednesday English SAC.

My goals are more outcome-focused. Not process-focused almost at all. H'm.

P.S. A potentially relevant article: How to set "aims" and "goals" - and what that actually means.

- Get back into a routine (currently barely studying, not exercising, not eating enough, not drinking enough water and feeling pretty trash)
- Get a high atar + get into desired course

And these arent really year goals so these are sub goals of getting a high atar
- Do 1 hour of exam study a day
- Finish my subject notes asap (ideally by sunday, realistically by wednesday)
- Start doing past papers next week
- Outline study plan for exams

My non acedemic goal is to get my manual liscence (lead up goal to getting my MR (medium-rigid truck) liscence in late 2021 hopefully)

While 2020 has changed a lot of things for me study-wise, I think my passion for education, both as a student and as an educator, has not changed  :) I'm hoping it will stay this way for the rest of the year!

My goals for the rest of the year are, from a purely marks-based POV, to get as many D's and HD's as possible in my courses so I can meet the minimum WAM requirement to apply for Honours. Beyond this though, I'm hoping to spend a lot of my time this semester learning lots of new things, working outside of my comfort zone (I'm taking a jazz education unit and am interested to see how I will go considering I have little musical experience in it) and developing my interests to figure out what I want to contribute to music education as a field through my research in the last two years of my degree  :D My other semi-academic goal is to have all my lesson planning and programming done ready for my first prac which will either be at the end of this year or early next year depending on how COVID-19 plays out  :)

Keen to hear what everyone else is working towards for the rest of the year!
