To go straight to posts from 2021, click here.

We did this in the Monash thread a couple of years ago, but I thought it'd be pretty interesting for current and prospective students!

Basically, the idea is just to list all of the units you've completed at uni in order from favourite to least favourite. You can provide justification or a quick summary of each if you like! :D

Admittedly some can be hard to rank, but I'll start us off:

- ATS4230 Arts Honours Thesis (2016)
- ATS3673 History and Sociolinguistics of English (2015)
- ATS3681 Structure of English (2014)
- AMU1311 Sex, Gender and Knowledge (2015)
- ATS1338 The Language Game: Why Do We Talk the Way We Do? (2013)
- ATS2683 The Analysis of Discourse: Texts, Narrative and Society (2015)
- ATS3679 Psycholinguistics and Child Language Acquisition (2014)
- ATS2676 Sociolinguistics (2014)
- ATS3872 Topics in Indian Philosophy (2014)
- ATS2667 Language Across Time (2014)
- ATS1371 Life, Death and Morality (Introduction to Philosophy A) (2014)
- ATS4137 Special Reading Unit 1 (Honours) (2016)
- ATS4653 Honours Workshop (2016)
- ATS2637 The Human Body and the International Marketplace (2014)
- ATS1339 Describing and Analysing Language and Communication (2013)
- ATS3627 Global Cultures, Local Traditions: Creating and Consuming (Popular) Culture (2015)
- ATS3639 Poverty, Ecology, and International Justice (2014)
- ATS2640 The Ethics of Global Conflict (2015)
- AMU2906 Genders, Sexualities and Religions in Southeast Asia (2015)
- ATS1325 Contemporary Worlds 1 (2013)
- ATS1326 Contemporary Worlds 2 (2013)
- ATS1315 Human Rights Theory 2 (2013)
- AMU2450 Contemporary Media Theory (2015)
- ATS1314 Human Rights Theory 1 (2013)

Not a fan of Human Rights Theory?!

I knew you'd comment on that. 😂

Nah, still enjoyed it - the only units I genuinely didn't enjoy were PSY1011 and PSY1022. I just preferred the Linguistics units slightly more. ;)

I've only done one year of uni, but I'll give this a go nevertheless  ;D

[Monash University] 2017:

  • BMS1021 - Cells, tissues and organisms
Started out as my most difficult and least favourite biomed unit in sem 1, but ended up being my favourite (after I put effort into learning the content...) :D Gave a pretty good intro to the various different fields within biomedical science
  • BMS1011 - Biomedical chemistry
  • BMS1062 - Molecular biology
  • BMS1042 - Public health and preventive medicine
Liked the biostatistics part, but unfortunately all the other biomed units were a bit more interesting  ::)
  • CHM1022 - Chemistry II
Quite an interesting unit. Learnt a lot about how chemistry is related to everyday things :) The labs were quite fun as well (after I was able to work out where all the equipment was located...)
  • MTH1020 - Analysis of change
Content was similar to that of VCE spesh, so found it quite easy to keep up. I actually found the way the content is taught in this unit is allows for a much deeper understanding of the material compared to that in VCE, in that everything is taught from first principles i.e. "we have a problem that we want to solve, and now we'll teach you how we can solve it". Definitely think this unit has improved my mathematical writing. We also learnt things not on the spesh course, which kept me interested :)
  • ETC1000 - Business and economic statistics
Went into this unit expecting more of a mathematical focus, but it ended up having more of a real life, applications focus  ::)
  • MKC1200 - Principles of marketing
This being at the bottom has nothing to do with my hate for marketing (well, not in most cases anyway...), but rather the topic itself being "out of my comfort zone" (it was a commerce core unit, so didn't really have a choice  :P).

Definitely looking forward to doing the rest of my biomed units!  ;D

Hold on to your hats people, because this is an incredibly long list:

1. PTY1011 - Physiotherapy 1
Whilst there are aspects of PTY1022 that I preferred (i.e. physiology), I enjoyed the lower limb more than upper limb, and found it easier. The two units were also taught slightly differently to each other and I think I preferred a lot of the way that 1011 was delivered compared to 1022.

2. PTY1022 - Physiotherapy 2

I got roasted* earlier tonight for saying that my least favourite units were what they were, but here's my list:

PSC1042: Multi-Disciplinary Pharmaceutical Science. Whipped cream and food. Enough said.
PSC1012: Physiology I
PSC1031: Physical Chemistry I
PSC1041: Scientific Inquiry
PSC1032: Physical Chemistry II
PSC1012: Physiology II
PSC1021: Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry I
PSC1022: Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry II. I really didn't like this unit, and it was more of a mess than I was this semester haha :P

*I chose to go along to a UoM trivia night, and bumped into zsteve and I mentioned that I hated organic chemistry, he nearly freaked q:
2017-2019: Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science (Formulation Science)
2020: Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science (Honours) Read my uni journey here!

I'll update this thread peridocially, when I complete more course in my 4 year program. Also for every year you go up, the courses become more and more of a shitshow.... hmmm

GEOM2083: Applied Geospatial Techniques. I made many mistakes, but still enjoyed learning about how important Surveying, GIS and Cartography is to creating a project.
GEOM2077: Cartography 1. If you know me well enough, this is a given
GEOM1033: Spatial Information Science Fundamentals
GEOM2088: Surveying 1
GEOM1022: Physical Geography
MATH2211: Mathematics for Scientists
PHYS1080: Introduction to Physical Modelling. Course had its issues, but I can give it some credit for the learning aspect.
ONPS2338: Scientific Communication. sigh... I also do a version 2.0 of this in 4th year called Professional Practice. sigh..

Jack of all trades, master of none.
Hence why i'm in all these different threads and boards.

Goodness. I have two degrees so this will be interesting:

Highest in list = loved, lowest in list = not-so-loved (clean version.. it's for the best)

IT degree from La Trobe (search codes):
