Heyo!
Congrats on finishing exams. ;D Any celebration plans?
What are you doing for work experience?
Hi! No celebration plans as yet,,,, but we'll have to see what the weekend brings!
I'm doing my work experience at a council library. Fun for me, maybe not for others, lol
hello worldHello!
Today, it is the 14th of June, 2019, and I'm attempting to begin this VCE journal as my first semester of Year 10 has come to a sweet, sweet end.
I'm particularly motivated to begin as I've just come home from my English exam, my last one. All of my exams have been packed into one week, which was a pain in the, you know, but definitely rewarding in the end, as I don't have to be at school next week. I'm kinda elated at the moment, because I found out that I've achieved 100% on my Health and Human Development exam :o which is... I mean... pretty amazing. I have my work experience placement in two weeks, which should be pretty fun and, of course, my deeply appreciated holiday break.
This semester, I've done the subjects english (I'm in an advanced class), maths, photography, HHD unit 1, psychology, and literature. Next semester, I'm doing english (still in advanced), year 10 methods (My school offers three levels in semester 2; foundation, general, and methods, designed to prepare us for VCE/VCAL), human biology, physics, HHD unit 2, and sociology.
Enough about school, and more about me!
I live in Melbourne, the best city in Australia. At school, I'm part of SRC, currently working on the social media aspects of our little group (AtarNotes follows me on Instagram hehe). Outside of school, I like to read a fair bit, watch Netflix, listen to music whenever I get the chance, and I love a good Insta sesh. If you couldn't tell by my pfp, I'm a BTS Army, which if you are too, don't hesitate to msg me (:
As for this journal, I've decided to begin now in Semester Two, as a fresh start. I'm going to try and update at the end of every week! I'll be documenting my subject choice process, thoughts, worries, celebrations, marks, and of course, one day, my atar score :o I think this'll be interesting to look back on in a few years, as well. I'd also VERY MUCH appreciate any advice you guys have for me (:
ok bye for now
Is that sort of work something you might be interested in for the future, do you think? Not really, but I thought it'd be a good idea to have work exp somewhere other than retail.
What is your favourite subject and why and what are your general study habits?
I can't wait for your next update!
;D

hello worldCongrats on such an amazing achievement, especially for a Unit 1/2 subject!
I found out that I've achieved 100% on my Health and Human Development exam :o which is... I mean... pretty amazing.
Wait so you have ur English Exam as the last one, we have to do it as the first one.
Congrats on such an amazing achievement, especially for a Unit 1/2 subject!
Human Bio- This class is probably my favourite so far. It's not boring at all! We're starting to recap Cells and I'm liking it so far. Also, my teacher is great. I had them in Year 8 for Science and I have them now again. I like it when I can tell a teacher is passionate about their subject (:
Wow, that such a cool option to have in Year 10! Is it meant to be a preparation subject for 1/2 bio?
Yes! we have the option of Biology and Human Biology that both lead to 1/2 bio (:
Cool! How are they different?
I honestly don’t have that much of a clue lol.
In Human Bio we’re covering
- cells
- cell membrane
- cell division
- immune system
- homeostasis/the nervous system
I’m guessing in normal Bio they’d be covering different or more topics
A quick question to all the Year 11's, 12's and up - how did you pick your subjects?Hmm in year 11 I did 3/4 Biology - can't really pinpoint an exact reason I chose the subject but out of the ones available to do in year 11 it was the best for me - another subject I considered was Accounting.

For year 12, the choice of English was pretty straightforward, my school didn't offer English Language (I think if it was an option I may have done this alongside the standard English). I also did Methods and Specialist. Methods was an easy choice given it was a prerequisite for many courses I was interested in at the time. I enjoyed/felt was strong at maths so did Specialist as well.
I also did Chemistry, which again was quite an easy choice given it opened up heaps of university options and on top of that, I did MUEP Chemistry (uni extension). I liked chemistry and wasn't too sure of another VCE subject to do in year 12 so decided to do this after speaking to a few past MUEP students.
Thanks, Sine!Personally, for me, it was a very good decision to do MUEP and definitely worth it.
Would you say your uni extension was worth it? I've got UMEP in the back of mind for yr12.
Happy belated birthday, Jeyda! :)
Also, KLD applications open on Monday. That's a thing! That's happening! When are you putting in your application?

It's been a while, hasn't it? I've got the spunky red box letting me know how much dust has collected on this journal. I didn't really feel the need to update much, as it's been a slow month.
Most importantly, I'm one year older now! My birthday was last week, and to be honest, I thought I'd have this, you know, ~feeling~ about my birthday but it's been chill. I don't really feel any type of way about it, except grateful that I get to see another year. We celebrated at a Japanese restaurant, the one where they throw food at you. Lets just say I cleaned a lot of food out of my hair that night. ;D It was super fun, and I'm really thankful to my friends and fam.
I'm sick at the moment. I took yesterday (Friday) off school to recover at home. I came down with a horrible sore throat a couple of days ago and, oh my god, my voice completely took a hit. I sound like I've smoked a pack a day for the last 50 years.
I originally thought my lost voice was because I stupidly inhaled some helium out of a big balloon, but then came the pain, and the headache, and I knew I was done for.
Recently I've enjoyed watching Glow on Netflix - after much hesitation and delay, I finally caved and watched it. It's amazing. "Where have you been all my gotdamn life" amazing. I have created an 80's playlist and my Mum, who was a teenager in the 80's, is very delighted to see me listening to "her music." I think we can also all agree how much we love Alison Brie
Also, KLD applications open on Monday. That's a thing! That's happening!
I've lowkey been counting down until September 2nd and here it is! In the flesh!
I might talk more about it in an upcoming entry, after applications.
As for an update on school, I've picked my VCE subjects:
- English
- Maths Methods
- Psychology
- Biology
- HHD 3/4
- Literature
I'm not too sure if a Lit class will run next year, as I don't think many people have chosen it. If that happens, I've chosen Legal Studies as my backup. If you've seen my subject selection post, I had a hard time trying to decide between Literature and Legal Studies, and after chasing up almost all of my teachers for advice, I stuck with Lit.
My subjects have been alright these past weeks, nothing too exciting.
Look at me, being all fancy and savvy with a spoiler. Who does she think she is?SpoilerHHD
I got 100% on my SAC on Australian Healthcare !! Woo!!
I don't know how I keep doing this lmao.
We've moved onto our global health topic. We also have a student-teacher in the class, so that's been new and exciting.
MATHS
We've done quadratic formula stuffs and now we're doing parabolas.
I actually like Maths, so I'm trying really hard to understand and be able to apply everything.
I got a C on my last test. It's not that bad but it's not that great either. :o
HISTORY
So, yes, I've moved out of Physics. It wasn't for me, and I needed to change it. So History it was!
I'm actually really enjoying it! This class is about the Cold War and the relationship between the United States and the USSR.
We watched 'Red Dawn' and had to write an essay discussing either the purpose of the film, or how the film villainises Russian characters.
I normally don't enjoy 80's propaganda disaster films, but I mean, it was great. Very Patrick Swayze-ey.
I think we're all in that Term 3 state of mind at the moment. Only three weeks to go until a well needed break.
I might experiment with this one-month/30 day update scheme, as I don't have much going on at the moment. All the fun stuff is later in the year! Like exams! And VCE! Yay!
Alright. Enough.
See you soon, AN.
Aww, that sounds like a lot of fun for a birthday! It's also great to see you're enjoying history (I wish I could too). It's also nice to know that even if you don't get Lit, you're still happy with Legal Studies
I still hope you get your first preference though
Hey,Hi! I know that SAC is usually used for VCE but at my school we use the term for assessments at Year 10 and up. From Year 7-9 we'd call them 'portfolio tasks'.
Cool update.
Just out of curiosity, how come you call your assessments Sacs?
I submitted my application for KLD and that is now ticked off the list for the year! Students get notified of the outcome on November 22nd. Fingers crossed for all the yr10's applying!
This year has gone by so quickly, and it made me think of how next year and the year after will go even quicker. I remember in yr7 we would always talk about VCE and now it's practically here on my doorstep. It's wild. Next term (Term 4) is basically only 5 or so weeks and then we have our exams. I think my last day is around Dec 13th or so and omggggggg I just want summer back already :'(
ahhh goodluckkk, hope the results come out in your favour!!
time does go fast around this time of year, can totally relate TT^TT what subjects are you planning to do next year?? and also omgg the bts world game,, i really want to start playing it bahah is it good?? hope you have a nice holidayyy
Heyoooo, omg congratulations on the awards!! This just shows how ambitious and hardworking you are! ;D
Looking forward to this journal. Also, what are you planning on doing on the holidays??
P.s. AYEEEE BTSSSSSSS!! Do you have a bias??
I used to be very into a lot of Kpop but now it’s something I listen to occasionally. I still listen to songs I previously listened to tho. I really like BlackPink, Day6, Akmu, mamamoo and so on, but don’t listen to them that much anymore sadly :(. I’d say my bias now is tae, but I totally get what you mean hahaha... my bias also changes everytime they change hair colour ;)
Ooh I see well enjoy the beach and the novels!
phew, this year is over. thank you snow leopard for the mini reminder to update this journal <3All good :)
How have your holidays been thus far?my holidays have been pretty good! i’ve been relaxing and watching netflix - mainly the new terrace house and the kdrama crash landing on you. i’m not keen for holiday hw tho aha
Super happy for you that you are enjoying all of your subjects! It really does make such a difference when your doing stuff you enjoy. That's awesome that you got you learners. Your not alone it getting them late. I turned 16 in April 2018, and I only got mine in February 2019, so welcome to the club. This may seem like a stupid tip, but I really liked using L plates that had suction cups on then, that way you can just jump in and out of the car and take them on and off quickly without leaving any residue or what not. This makes it so easy when other people have to use the car as well.
When I did attend mainstream school, I ended up getting a middle locker and being tall really sucked with it, so as someone who is 174 cm tall, I can 100% relate. (but then again I didn't know how some of the 180+ cm guys managed a bottom locker...)
Have a great week :)
Hi Jeyda!
Congratulations on your English results! I'm literally so happy for you! But if you do ever need help with General Maths, Biology or English, I'll definitely be more than happy to help :)
Have a great week and kind regards,
Darcy Dillon.
I started watching Haikyuu in April, which I've finished and I'm obsessed with (can't wait for July) and I'm currently in the middle of watching Yuri on Ice, which is so fun!!!As I am typing this right now I'm actually listening to "History Maker" YOI OP 1🤣. Also, YES to Haikyuu!! I absolutely love Haikyuu to bits and it's a good bandwagon to get into. (It's very tempting to adopt all the Haikyuu boys. Who is your fav?). 100% guaranteed to change the way you see volleyball forever.
I've also picked up a couple more iso skills- Solitaire and Minesweeper courtesy of procrastinating on the google doodle pages. If you were anything like me, I used to click around and wait for something to happen lol. But I've finally learnt!!
Hey hey Jeyda!I've been watching over this journal for a while now and can I just say I absolutely love it
Congrats for the amazing scores in your subjects! Keep up the great work and enthusiastic effort😊. I also agree that studying in the comfort of your own room is amazing and sleeping in has been something I've taken for granted at this point. Let's keep that motivation going and I'm absolutely positive you will do amazing.

I'm set on joining some sort of volleyball club in uni lmao. I think my favourites are Asahi, Daichi, Kuroo and Tsukishima (tsukkii that block scene, best scene of the series I got serious chills and cried again)
PERSONAL
- I started an anime and I'm yet to finish it (it's called Free)
- Received an officeworks order (omg) and I ordered coloured pens (OMG)
- I've spent an ungodly amount of time on tiktok someone please stop me
- I bought a gudetama pen holder and tbh the painting detail on it isn't the best but it's cute!!!
//Thank you so much for the sweet reply, Ashmi!! I love seeing your name pop up aha
Just ended this wonderful school day with the news that I scored 100% on my HHD sac, bringing my unit 4 average to 95% and putting me in a very good place to get the 45+ I’m aiming for!Congratulations that's an amazing achievement! And yes you are definitely on track to a 45+
When I saw the score I think my eyes popped out of my skull. On my practice sac I had scored a 19/25 (76%), and the week before my sac I didn’t study like I usually do and overall had a pretty shitty week, so this score was DEFINITELY a surprise.
My initial goal for the exam was 80/100 marks, but now that I've started doing practice exams, I've realised how hard this is gonna be. I have a very vague idea of what will get me a 45 but at this point I don't really care about the numbers game and want to answer the questions as best as possible. I care about the content of this subject a lot and don't want to throw away my interest for public health just because of some exam marks.Hi blueycan,
I need to start studying for my year 11 exams which start on the 23rd. They seem like a joke compared to the weight of my HHD exam but I want to do well on them too, so I need to find a balance.
Good luck to everyone else reading this (:
Heyy Jeydaaa
Super stoked to see your journal update again! I was a silent reader of your journal last yearwas too shy to respond hehehheheh. I hope your captaincy interview went well!
I loved sleep and mental health when I did psych last year! Trust me, time will fly and in the blink of an eye, you'll be learning about the protective factors for mental health and the beautiful world of NREM and REM sleep... ooooweeeee
Do you miss Health? I sometimes sit in my room mindlessly writing an essay, reminiscing on my time doing psych and further last year. Although I somewhat miss year 11, I'm forever grateful for the free periods I get this year. Honestly, free periods are a precious gift from the VCE lords above, allowing me to catch up on my studies.
I hope to see another update soon!
PS: Huge congrats for year health ss!
Love,
Mary
Hey blueycan!
Glad to see Year 12 is going well for you so far :)
I'm slightly jealous that you have gotten your Year 12 jumper already. My school gets them towards the end of Term 3 :(
All the best with your school captain interview!
Recently I'm hooked onto the Netflix shows "Law School" and "Vincenzo,"I'm watching Law school as well and I'm enjoying it! (considering the last kdrama I watched was start-up this was nice change in pace)
I'm watching Law school as well and I'm enjoying it! (considering the last kdrama I watched was start-up this was nice change in pace)It's so great to see someone else enjoying Law School! It's honestly the biggest highlight of my Thursdays and Fridays. I also ended up finishing Vincenzo last night, and I ****highly**** recommend you watch it.
Vincenzo is on my list I heard good things about!
Good to see year 12 is travelling well, continue to keep up with your studies and balancing extracurriculars as well.
Glad to have a read a positive update, but as you move into the midst of term 2, many students find it challenging to keep motivated.
I encourage you to give yourself some "me-time" doing something for yourself every week to ensure you keep yourself sane, always important to look after your physical and mental health.
Looking forward to next update :)
If any uni students are reading, if you'd like, I'd appreciate some advice on my uni-related stuff so I can get an idea of what to do 😅

Thanks for reading this update too and have a great end to the week!
I really hope the prompts forVCAA actually saved my life. A prompt about WOMEN???? GENDER???? THE TREATMENT OF WOMEN???? YOU MEAN ONE OF MY BEST STUDIED TOPICS???? I honestly think they gave us leniency with that one. But actually, a bunch of people chose the other topic– I opted for the one without the quote :o This essay was probably the best comparative essay I've written all year. But don't tell my English teacher that I never finished The Dressmaker... I even studied it in Year 10 and didn't finish it then. Legend says that Jeyda will never know the proper ending to the text.Extinctionand The Crucible/Dressmaker and the media text bless me on Wednesday
For English my SAC scores stayed at about a 80-90%, which isn't the best tbh because it dropped my rank, but I'm hoping that my exam scores will even everything out and I can hopefully get around a 38-40.English → 40 (39.22)
My SAC scores were alright, ranging from 75-90 throughout the year, so I don't think I'm ranked very highly but I'm sure it'll be fine... I'm predicting around a 30-33 fingers crossed.Further Maths → 38 (35.89)
For this subject, without being too hasty I really want at least a 40, but my score could be anywhere from 38-low 40s.Psychology → 40 (39.33)
Knowing the nature of the subject I'm not expecting a very high score at all, so I think my prediction of a 30 will do, but who knows it could be higher?VCD → 36 (32.84)
I managed to rank one throughout the year so I do have some hope for *at least* a 41 or 42.... but I honestly don't know. I guess we'll have to wait and see??Legal Studies → 40 (39.49)
Predicted ATAR = around 93ATAR → 93.75
Congratulations Jeyda!!Thank you so much T&S !! Esp for all the health help and advice (:
An amazing result what a significant achievement, haha some of your predictions were spot on :o
You should be really proud of yourself for your effort over the past two years, you did it!
Wishing you all the best with your future endeavours, I know you are going to succeed in whatever you decide to do, looking forward to see where you go next!-T&SSpoilerP.S I got my honours offer today haha!
Today's the day !!!
English → 40 (39.22)
Further Maths → 38 (35.89)
(was NOT expecting a score this high)
Psychology → 40 (39.33)
VCD → 36 (32.84)
(way better than I thought!)
Legal Studies → 40 (39.49)
(not what I was hoping but still happy nonetheless!)
+ HHD → 43 (40.96)
ATAR → 93.75
Almost predicted my results exactly! I'm satisfied with how I did and mostly happy the wait is over!!
Congratulations and a huge well done to everyone who got their results today– we did it 👏
