Your thoughts?

List decisions have been mediocre. It's not all his fault but he needs to fall on his sword. The image is a problem - nobody wants to come here ("nobody" meaning high profile players even when offered significant cash). Those that support NM can attest to the fact that they are a massively frustrating team to watch on a regular basis. Losing games that were winnable, butchering basic skills particularly this season... it's just stuff that players that are paid the salary they do, should get right.

I also think that the recruiting & list management needs to be looked at as well. Clearly something is going wrong in this department. I do think that after nearly 10 years with Scott as coach, need a change and fresh direction.

It's hard to coach a team where majority of the list are either kids or mediocre B-grade players. Just sayin.

Timing seems a bit weird. Who would you want as a replacement?

I saw in an article (I can't even remember where now), that Rhyce Shaw was being floated as a caretaker. I just laughed when I saw it.

Crocker was great imo. Apart from that, I don't really have a preference. As long as they know what they're doing and can steer our team and list in the right direction back to finals (at least), then i'll be happy. I don't want our team to end up like Carlton where the coaches go in and out and can't get off the ground.

^MMM seems to think Shaw is an option also. You're not a fan?

Speaking of Carlton coaches, Ratten in 2020?

Don't think he's experienced enough. We need somebody with proven experience of affecting change (for the better, of course).

Wouldn't that be a story. Sacked then reborn.

Should never have been sacked IMO. Loved him when he was at the Dees.

Just to add to what's been said. I think the lesson over the last few years has been that it's possible to make a success of a coach if they have the right people around them. Glad the discussion around coaching these days has not just been about the head coach, but also around the organisation of the club. I do wonder whether that feeds into some of the issues that Brad Scott is having.

I'd also point to the fact that the business of renegotiating a contract is really fickle. Simon Goodwin being a good example of that. In a season when he almost got sacked, he was then given a long extension because Melbourne was seen to succeed last year and generated a lot of hype. You'd expect there'd be a few people out there now regretting that decision, particularly because of the perception that he drives a fairly hard arse (and I think negative) culture at the club.

Nearly sacked was an overstatement, apologies! There was speculation at the start of the season that he might be on his way out, but certainly nothing approaching a firm commitment from Melbourne to get rid of him.

Last game Scott is coaching is this week, rather than end of season. It's interesting, he's part of the problem but I do feel quite disappointed and upset he's leaving. Perhaps because he's been there for so long. It's going to be strange watching another person coach our team.

He has 105 wins 105 losses, this game will determine where the 106th goes.

This is great stuff. Can clearly tell it's over today after he hugged all his players, got his family for the song.
Good solid win too.

should shut people (specifically media) up for at least the next few days.
It was a great match. Skills were much better from our team - this week and last week in particular there has been a big improvement.
