Done my first 2 sacs.

Data sac: 69%
Financial sac: 40%

What happens now. Do both of these sac get an average for ga1 ?? Soemone please explain what those 2 scores go to. (Are they an average for ga1 if yes the average for both of these scores is 54.5%)

Also what will study score be looking at I think I got low ranked. But I have higher average than some of my classmates.

that's the probably the only reason why I'm reconsidering it

-snip-

If you couldn't tell I'm little stressed for my subject choices and where I'm heading :(
Big tip: Don’t take subjects purely for the scaling (reason is as Sine said).

Go for subjects you like and subjects you require as prerequisites for future courses (e.g. uni courses) you’d like to do after Year 12. If you like Psych better and/ or considering a career or higher education in psychology, then psych is probably a better choice, and vice versa.

Doing subjects you like will help immensely when getting through VCE, especially when you get to Year 12. (Doing ones you don’t like will feel like nails screeching very very slowly on a chalkboard.) You’ll thank yourself later.

I'm currently in Year 10 doing Psychology Unit 1 and 2, however I don't think I plan on doing Psychology Unit 2. Reason being is I don't think it would be too beneficial for me. I've spoken with my teacher and she says I'm at the top of both of her classes. I enjoy learning Psychology, but I believe doing Biology as an advanced placement would be a better decision. I have a very vague understanding on the scaling system but I think if I replace Psychology Unit 2 with Biology Unit 2 right now, then I'd have a slight advantage against the Year 11s doing Biology. So I'd hopefully get a higher rank compared to them.
Not too sure what you mean by this, what you do in unit 1 and 2 has zero impact on your study score (including your sac ranks)

I have quite a few questions so it'd be great if someone could answer them for me. 1) Do I need Biology Unit 1 in order to understand Unit 2? 2) Is there a crossover from Unit 1 and 2 into 3 and 4 for Biology? 3) Is Biology difficult? 4) Should I remain in Psychology since it's a subject I find quite easy to pick up on and because I am at the top of my class?

Another reason why I'm planning on changing to Biology and stop doing Psychology is because of Psychology's scaling. I'm scared that the scaling will heavily affect my result (that's the probably the only reason why I'm reconsidering it). This year, since I'm a Year 10, my subjects would be Methods 1/2 and Biology 1/2 (if I do end up changing). Therefore next year I would be undertaking Methods 3/4, Biology 3/4, Chemistry 1/2, English 1/2, Chinese 1/2 and Specialist 1/2. I want to do Specialist as I enjoy learning maths and think I can do it. It also scales better than Psychology.

If you couldn't tell I'm little stressed for my subject choices and where I'm heading :(
1) No, you don't even need units 1 and 2 for units 3 and 4 (however they may help just to learn a few basic broad biological concepts)
2) Not really, it is not like maths where you need to learn units 1/2 to do units 3/4
3) Depends on your aims/effort you put in
4) I can't really comment on the significance of being at the top of your class since I have no idea about your cohort strength and for the most part people are quite slack in units 1 and 2. I think you should pick the subject you prefer studying rather than guessing which one you may score better on.

In terms of scaling: Scaling is just there to make sure that each subject is standardised so scores between different subjects can be compared with each other. Scaling highly (e.g. specialist maths) doesn't make it easier to score highly in a subject it just means it is really difficult to get a high raw score. Students are more likely to get higher scores in subjects that they like and enjoy studying rather than subjects that scale highly.

QCE Marking and Feedback / Re: Psychology RI Feedback
« Last post by Luke_8064 on 1 hour ago »
Hey Luke!

I've attached a document with some feedback - I hope it hasn't come too late!
What you've got is really good. You should be fine with only one extension, but if you did want to include another just to be safe as suggestion would be to investigate different forms of aggressive behaviour. It would be interesting to see if experiencing emotional abuse also increased the chances of not only the child becoming emotionally abusive as an adult but also physically or some other form.

Hope it helps!
Katelyn

Hey Katelyn,

Thanks so much for the feedback and don't worry I've still got a month before the final it is due.

Kind regards,
Luke

That last assignment

I got it back. I'm surprised by the result: I expected that I'd get less than 50% on at least one section of the rubric, but I didn't. My average for HBS109, then, before the exam's results, is 62.7%. Given that, I'm hopeful for a credit overall in the unit (60-69%). Only a squeaking-in-barely one, but I can hope.

Hope is good, right?

I had a similar exam season had a 1-week break from my English exam to my Methods Exam.
I think the 1-week break will work in your favour I would prefer it then has all your exams slammed together, although you may envy your friends that finish earlier, trust me finishing a week or so earlier isn't all that much to worry about hehe.
And yes I also would plan my post-exam trip (I also had my 18th after exams, so it was a double whammy). I remember I was searching Airbnb during my hhd classes and teacher would get mad (even though I was rank 1 XD)
Hopefully, the term 2 holidays can be a good time to get some much-deserved rest, but also a good time to start rolling our practice exams (esp for psych).
Always happy to read your updates! You're more than halfway through, keep it up!

law school & other kdramas
Also I finished Law School! Won't say my thoughts just incase you haven't finished, I am looking forward to watching So Not Worth It and Nevertheless, that comes out this week!
Planning on binging Penthouse during my uni break GAHHHH so much kdramas and not enough time :(

Having a whole bunch of very nice songs on shuffle and being able to relax 'cause it's uni break and I have no more exams.
What's not so nice (or mildly annoying, or something) is when I get the same song from the different singers I have the albums of, all in a row. Sure, it's different tracks, but it's the same song! (Different arrangement and a soprano rather than a tenor does make it interesting to compare, but still.)

VCE Chemistry / Re: VCE Chemistry Question Thread

Hey guys,
For my experiment poster, my partner and I are looking at percentage yield of aspirin production at different temperatures. Our teacher told us not to worry about whether the reaction is exothermic or endothermic when predicting the impact that increasing the temperature will have as it's not an equilibrium system.

I guess because of that I'm still struggling to conceptualize whether increasing the temperature will affect the percentage yield at all, or if it will only impact the rate of the reaction. I know that when we perform the reaction over a hot bath it will increase the rate of the reaction, but as we're allowing all our reactions to continue until crystallization ceases I don't think that the rate will affect the yield.

I'd really appreciate some guidance.

Although I hear that they [i
may[/i] cancel the writing section that they did last year. As a person who can barely hold a pencil, that will definitely help me.
We had our test novemberish so because there wasn't any time to mark them they cancelled it. Since yours is in August, I don't think they'd be planning to do the same. Anyway good luck since the writing section is what toughens up the competition. Here's a tip - use pen when writing. 🤞 for u guys, hopefully there is no writing.

If you need any help pm me.
