Hello
I was just curious for my Bio ss I was hoping for low 40's
Rank 5-6 in an average cohort with a very strong top 10
U3 average = 76%
U4 average = 72%
Our SAC's are pretty difficult and tend to scale up as from previous years according to my teacher.
Just a usual public school, not a selective school

Exam score = 102-105/120

Your exam score is above the A+ cut of last year, so i am presuming that you will be able to get low 40s, i would say 40-43.

Yo this is going to sound like a weird request. But I just got my statement of marks, what study scores correlate to getting a 74/80 in exam 1 and a 116/120 in exam 2 for FURTHER MATHS. Thank you. I believe I may have received an incorrect study score

Low SAC marks after scaling could cause your study score to be lower than expected. You should get a statement of study score and check your scaled SAC marks.

So what does study score do those marks correlate to? I lost 3 marks in exam 1 (hence 74/80) and got 116/120 in exam 2. I did get a statement of marks. That is how I know my exam results, what would my study score? Just curious :P

Assuming this is further maths probably 45 if rank 1(or equivalent).
If you are a lower rank it can impact your score negatively.

I don't want to overstep my mark as I never did Bio, but based on the standard deviations and numbers observed from their distribution reports, I'd say that would be around the 38-41 raw range. The high exam score should cover you, and assuming your classmates do roughly the same.

What kind of marks are required to have a chance at a 48+ ss for English, Further, Legal, Bio and Psych?
Is it at that point about being rank 1 and acing the exam? or so your sac marks play a bigger part than ranking in the top percentiles

For english, the following should net you a 48.
SAC - 100%
Exam - 54-55
(100% SAC + 52/60 scored me a 46, 100% SAC + 53/60 scored a friend 47)

For biology, the following should net you a 49-50
SAC - 100%
Exam: 110/120

If you have a strong cohort, then being rank one becomes less relevant. e.g. I was probably only around rank 10 in english but my SACs scaled to 100%. For other subjects, you can just use the grading distribution as a reference for grade cutoffs. here
2018: Biology [50 + Prems]
2019: English [46], Latin [45], Chemistry [41], Mathematical Methods [48], Specialist Mathematics [41]
ATAR: 99.95

2020: BMedSci, M.D. @ Monash Uni

VCE Biology Units 1&2 and 3&4 Tutoring for 2021

What does it look like for SACS and exam to net a 42-44 in English?
VCE:
2019: Accounting [45]
2020: English [37],  Economics [42], Specialist Mathematics [42], Mathematical Methods [43], Chemistry [44]
ATAR: 98.80

2021-2023: Bachelor of Biomedicine [The University of Melbourne]

Not last year but I know of those who have got
100% sacs + 50/60 for a 45
99%-99.5% sacs + 50/60 for a 44

In english sacs matter a lot. So really good sacs (close to 100) + a low A+ (48/60) have resulted in 42s in the past. You can try to extrapolate from that.

No, your raw score has minimal insignificance your rank is much more important.

Plus it is really early in the year so even if the 81 is a low rank you can make thr difference up by doing well on the rest of your sacs

Hey Sine

for English, is the rank of more significance or your overall score?
