Lol I used pencil for Methods too. Used the same pencil for all my exams except English actually, needed the luck. Don't use pencil for English.

pencil is the way to go with maths IMO, i would be using pencil in chem if i could. Pencil is so much better, you don't wanna make ur paper look all messy if you screw up "part a" of a question and have to go crossing out everything up to "part f" and have to squish everything up cos you've run out of room.

actually, my post befor last made me think of something.

Say you make a stupid error in part a that affects the rest of the question.
You do the entire problem, then realise your mistake.
You correct the orginla mistake.
Do you then have to go make correct all subsquent affected anwsers?

I know that i you didn't know you make the mistake in part a, you would get consequential marks for the rest
But if you have corrected the orginal mistake, can you leave the rest and still get full marks?

i hope that makes sense:S

Well probably not, coz the examiner wouldn't know you got the first bit wrong and would have no idea why the rest were wrong, thus marking part b WRONG and maybe the rest right.
So, I suggest you don't try it :P

Nah, if they gave consequential marks then I would have lost 1.5 marks for Methods exam instead of 2.5. Also, there was a kid at our school who lost 9 marks or so for incorrectly transcribing formulas; our school requested an examination of his paper and they found that VCAA didn't give consequential marks at all even though his method was correct, and all he had done was use the incorrect formula.

I think it works like this - in each question you get a single mark allocated to the answer. If the answer is wrong, then you will lose that mark, regardless of correct method or the fact that it is a consequential error.
