Lol you don't need a pacer, a pen works the same. I just prefer using pacers in exams.

ohhhh i get it, your annotations are just for important information that you wont have to re-read the paragraph for. thanks for showing that. i'm so gonna test it out in tests and things!

Err I guess it could be used for that, never thought it that way =/. My purpose for doing things this way is to I actively "capture" everything on the first read, so that's it's very improbable that my mind "slips over" critical wording.

i agree that is would definitely work, as you are making a summary of all the key information and filtering out all of the crap, but i can just picture myself wasting so much time doing this.  but then again if it eliminates stupid errors (like the ones i made on my further exam)  then it will be worth it.  i am deffs going to try it out.

Nah doesn't waste time, I go through and slide my pacer over the sentences, and make annotations fairly swiftly. Even if it is slower than the generic reading technique, the "capturing factor" of my technique more than makes up for it.

Checking the whole question and your answer carefully after completing wastes more time than doing this (I know from taking 1 hr 50 mins to finish Methods Exam 2 lol).

And the 2 marks I lost on the Methods exam poses another exam technique problem I'm trying to solve - how do I ensure that if the information I need to answer a question is located on another page, that the probability of incorrectly transcribing the required information is eliminated.

aww shit, you are so right. i do this all this time.  i look at the wrong thing or just copy the wrong thing out and then everything just turns to shit.  ill try and help you think of something, but really all i guess you can do is go back and check that you copied it correctly.

Are you allowed to use pencil in the exams? My school has always told me to use pen :\ I HATE doing maths in pen!

I used a pacer, it's fine. They say not to use pencil because in the heat and examiners hands it can smudge, thus ruining your paper, but pacer shouldn't.
