What happens if you dont finish an exam? do you just get ranked lower in your atar? Do the questions get marked incorrect?

Hi Jaelyn,

Welcome to ATAR Notes!

If you don't finish an exam, you don't receive marks for the questions that you don't answer, just like any other exam or SAC. You don't directly get a lower ATAR - you will probably get a lower study score for that subject than if you were to get more marks on the exam. your exam mark does dictate your study score to a certain degree, but there are so many other factors at play which you can read about here.

Hope this helps :)

In addition to what lm21074 has already said not answering a question is basically the same as getting the question wrong. You aren't further penalised. However, ideally, you should be trying to attempt every question. Even if you don't fully know the answer it is still possible to pick up partial marks on a question.
