Does algebra solver on CAS count as working out?? I’m terrible at algebra - can I just put ‘solve for x(“my equation”)’? Would that count as working out? Or do I have to actually do the algebra and write down the steps ?

If it is a one marker, giving the answer will be fine. However, if it a 'show' question (2 marks) I would suggest showing how you solved for 'x' just to be safe. For example, in the 2019 Exam 2, Q8b was a 'show' question and the exam report stated that students needed to show some form of arithmetic calculation.

If the question is worth 2 marks show at least 1 line of working out + the answer.
