Hi mseleanor! I'm doing Global Governance at the moment, and I'll probably end up writing a full review later after the semester's ended. But I'll write a couple comments now whilst I procrastinate from doing the essay...
So far, it's been a very up and down experience... Anne McNevin is an alright coordinator, but her lectures aren't particularly engaging or thought-provoking. I have her as a tutor too, and classes are generally boring because the topics she chooses to discuss don't interest me or any of my classmates. We have had some guest lecturers, who have been good to mix things up. However, we had Sara Meger for 3 weeks and her lectures were baaaddd. She doesn't seem to know the content well enough, so whenever anyone asked questions she couldn't answer them.
The assignments are also very different, focusing a lot more on applying knowledge and being able to think critically and engage with the topic. For the major essay, we watch a film then write about the aspects of GG in it (that's simplifying it a bit but that's the gist of it). Personally, I'm more of a fan of the standard essays, where there's a list of like 10 essay questions to choose from.
Overall, I haven't found it to be very interesting. But at the same time, it has not been particularly challenging, so that's a benefit!

Thanks ChloeCameleon! Ugh that sucks to hear. My intro to IR unit this year has been so good, probably because of my co-ordinator and lecturer Ben Wellings, who's amazing! Hopefully GG will be switched up in those respects next year ;)
Yeah alot of people have told me int rel (and other arts subjects) become much more about depth after first year.
Thanks so much for the insight. I now know what I'm getting myself into :P Excited to hear your end of year review!

Hey! I also did those units this year! Maybe we were in the same classes :D
I can't tell you from first hand, but my friend told me that both of those units are pretty difficult interms of workload and content. I'll see if I can ask him for a bit more advice and post it up :)

Please don't do those two units in the same semester.

I have a friend (not on ATAR Notes) who did the first semester one. I can ask him for more information if you want, but whenever I've heard him talk about it he said he didn't like it because it wasn't for him. However, he thought the unit was taught moderately well and would probably be enjoyable for someone who was more interested in applied mathematics.

Yeah if that's possible mate. Looking to head down that path, but there is a lack of info (probably due to how few do that major).

Hey everyone hope your enjoying the holidays :)

Has anyone done MTH3310? There currently aren't any reviews and I would find it very helpful to have an opinion. Also for someone who hasn't done next to no MATLAB how would I find MTH3051? It says 'introduction' but I don't want to be fooled haha

Thanks!

Any comments/opinions would be appreciated, a full blown review would be amazing.
