Should ATARNotes have a YouTube Channel?

Yes, and it should be an Edrolo-style thing
Yes, and it should be a variety of subject help and general Year 12 help
A bit of both of the above
No, it should stay a FORUM!

YouTube Channel?

Hey guys!
I have a suggestion, and that is that ATARNotes should have a YouTube Channel! I have a couple of ideas as to the type of thing that we could do, but please add your own suggestions. Should it be an Edrolo competitor/alternate resource, or should it be more like our 'Articles' section, with various users making videos on a variety of Year 12 etc. topics? I would say that a bit of a mix of both would be great!

The idea of a free video resource library of some kind has always appealed to me. I'd definitely be in support of it :)

Me too, I have this thing against Edrolo, since my school forces you to buy it, and I personally have never really found it as useful, because it never quite meshes with the actual stuff I've been doing, so for me it is basically a waste of money. Please, AN, give us a free resource!

Before TuteSmart, AN had something called vTextbook which was styled a little like Khan Academy. It was primarily for tutoring purposes, so the majority was pay-to-view but some videos were free to view as samples, which were great. It would be nice to see something similar return.

^^ was just about to talk about vTextbook for those new to AN   ;)  and those who didn't know about it since vTextbook wasn't really heavily promoted and marketed

From memory you had to pay for it but there was a large proportion of free videos avaliable iirc (maybe because they were old vidoes (3-5 years) but still relevant. I didn't actively use it outside of holiday watching but it would definitely be a great resource for students.

I think marvin can attest to this when i say if we have a youtube channel, we should have videos and stuff dedicated to the community side of AN. Anything not relating to work haha
But im totally for this idea! I'd definitely be willing to contribute!!  8) 8)

It was developed a fairly long time ago and we didn't feel it continued to meet our standards - So it's gone for now, but you can still use Tapatalk I believe! I'm running the iOS app because I downloaded it before it vanished :)

On YouTube Channel, I'm personally keen on it too. Stay tuned :)

Youtube imo is a very 2-sided argument. With different types of learners comes different types of exam strategy methods.
1) We have individuals who are good readers and thus might not appreciate/benefit that much from Youtube
2) We have individuals (like me) who are better listeners and thus prefer the engagement benefits that arise from Youtube.

In that regard, I wholly respect that idea as it provides opportunities from distant communities (aka. rural) to learn along with providing another medium for us listeners to be engaged with.

I agree with what you're saying
This forum is good for those people who are "good readers"
This youtube channel (if it went ahead) would be great for the listeners
