1984 Human experience essay question

Hey guys, recently I came across this question - which I found really tricky and need some help with.
While collective experiences can affect individuals in vastly different ways, they can also highlight our shared humanity.
My interpretation of the question is that:
- for collective experience, I'm thinking of the oppression that the Party and Big Brother places on both Winston and Julia
- this oppression affects the two differently because it prompts their different attitude towards rebellion, since Winston always believes there's hope in a large-scale revolution with the proles. In contrast, julia is more cynical and believes that a revolution would not be realistic and sees it rather futile.
- despite their different attitudes, they both want to have freedom - so that highlights the shared humanity.

I'm not sure if my interpretation is right, and if there are any other ways I could approach this question on 'collective experience'. please drop a comment on what you think. Thx  :D
