I'm going to the exhibition night! Tbh I opted on the exhibition night over information night because I knew it would be a better example of the school, at least for me.

Time until the test is ticking away :|

I don't study at all all I do is homework and the assignments that I am set. Should I be stressing or will I be fine? I get decent test scores 80-90%. :P

Really nice to see all of the electives and the passions you Year 10’s had for science yesterday. I may have spoken or talked to some of you! Also dad just accidentally paid for Nossal exam today as he thought he hadn’t paid for JMSS. Seems like I’m gonna do Nossal and JMSS exams then.

Yes it was absolutely amazing seeing everyone there! I talked to like a million people, everyone was so friendly! You could see the effort that had gone into everyone's projects and the showcase made me so much more excited about the school and the amazing electives.

Random question, if you get in, what electives would you do???

doing a bit of looking around and I found this guide for EBSS, this could be helpful to you guys as it was to me. (EBSS is another science school in Victoria) https://atarnotes.com/forum/index.php?topic=161374.0

Well, at least that you have a better chance of getting into at least one of the selective high schools since you can have NHS as your 'back-up' school. Damn it, I should've done that last year. : (

If you do fine in the JMSS exam, then you'll be invited to the interview. Well, your chance of getting into JMSS depends on how well you do compared to other candidates from your school (in both exam and interview). However, you seem to be having a good chance of being offered by the school since you're scoring from 80 - 90% in your tests and/or exams (JMSS will be looking at your 2017 Semester 2 and 2018 Semester 1 reports during your one-by-one interview, so they can compare you with other candidates from your school).

Do they talk you through your report or is it just like you hand it in and they'll look at it later

Question: are there any mistakes you could make in the interview that might cost you being accepted? During exhibition night I chatted around and many year 10s said as long as you could convincingly make things up, you were all good.

You pretty much hand everything to them and they look through everything. So you kinda just sit there awkwardly for a few minutes while they look through your report. They may make a few remarks, but my interviewer was silent.

Question: are there any mistakes you could make in the interview that might cost you being accepted? During exhibition night I chatted around and many year 10s said as long as you could convincingly make things up, you were all good.
Ahah, not surprised that they told you that. Obviously, you want to seem like you care about the school. If you act all grouchy and "urgh-whatever-I-only-tried-out-for-this-school-because-my-parents-forced-me-to" , then you shouldn't be surprised if you don't get into the school. Be friendly and speak confidently. Be logical, concise and passionate about your responses. I'm not really sure how good they are at reading people, but I guess most people did bs their way through the interview. Still, being genuine is a lot easier than bs-ing.
When faced with a problem, you either find a way or an excuse.
