I have a decent understanding of how the rankings affect study scores and scaled scores, but I am left with one question :
How do you get a unit 3 and unit 4 mark if these are supposedly scaled from the “same ranking” (wouldn’t these yield equivalent scores?)
Or, does the scaling for unit 3 only depend on unit 3 rank, and unit 4 only depends on unit 4 ranking (for subjects for which U3 and U4 are seperate graded assessments)?

For subjects where U3 and U4 are different graded assessments you get two ranks (a rank for unit 3 + a rank for unit 4) so it is very possible to get different scaled scores for each unit.

Ok makes sense. Thanks.
I was just wondering since me and someone else tied first for U3.
It’s I guess good knowing that U4 is independent so I can leave U3 in the past and can start by scratch U4

Hypothetically if you received rank 7 in U3, and received rank 1 in U4, With 100% on the exam.
Would you receive 100% scaled in U4 and receive the 7th highest exam mark for U3?

Yes
