    Hi,

    I need help with this dot point!
Gather, process and analyse information … to identify the satellite used for ‘live’ telecasts from other regions of world to Australia and vice versa and to present reasons why communication satellites have different aerials and positional orbits.
- Why do they need to have different aerials?  :-\

Different aerials allow the satellite to receive and transmit a range of different frequencies for the wide range of bandwidths there are out there, as well as support varying types of communications. For example, mobile, television and radio all rely on signals of different frequency, yet all of these communication types can be received and transmitted due to the satellite being equipped with aerials suited for each type. Satellites receive microwave signals through an uplink chain, which travels from a satellite dish on Earth and is received at the satellite through an aerial by which it is recognised. The satellite’s transponder then amplifies the signal before it is returned to Earth through a downlink chain to a receiving dish. In the case of a television satellite, the transponder takes advantage of its huge ‘line-of-sight’ to rebroadcast the signal to many receiving dishes at one time, thus providing widespread information or entertainment. The differing aerials are also effective in discriminating between areas of high and low usage, such as stretches of ocean in comparison to major cities.
different aerials are also needed to ensure information from one satellite does not interfere with information from another satellite, as well as sending/receiving info in different directions at one time..
