Astrophysics/theoretical physics

I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this, but I'm considering a career in physics (astrophysics in particular). I was wondering if anyone studying this could give me some advice.
Which uni is the 'best' for physics in australia? I'm tossing up between melb or monash but I don't know what physics is like there. I've also heard that anu is a good option but again I'm not entirely sure of what to expect.

Any replies are appreciated!! :)

Hey! I'm studying physics at UQ this year :) lol, I did accidentally say next year. My mind is still stuck in 2020  :o
Monash and Melbourne are both great - but it may be worth taking into account the number of courses that are actually available for astrophysics. Monash offers 7 courses in astrophysics, and from what I have seen from Melbourne there is one undergraduate level course in astrophysics (that being said, I am not used to their website and I may have missed stuff). But what I have seen from Monash, it looks fantastic for astrophysics. So I would probably recommend Monash if that is the path you want to take.

As for which Australian university is the best for physics, the Uni of Adelaide holds that title currently. If you are interested in comparing the rankings between Monash and Melbourne, Melbourne ranks slightly higher. The rankings are based off of information from this website.

ANU is certainly another great option - it has 10 courses for Astrophysics within the Bachelor of Science course list.

So, for astrophysics I would recommend either Monash or ANU.
Hope this helps! :)
