Congrats to all year 12's!!
I have a question regarding the creative SAC which we, for some strange reason have to have a full draft of ready by the start of school  ::) . In terms of a creative response, me, being totally uncreative automatically goes to the idea that I should copy the text scene for scene but from another's perspective. Would this be a good idea? Or would it be too unchallenging? It really depends on what is written in the piece i think, rather than how similar it is. Cheers

Oh and, a bit about what i've been up to these holidays so this journal isn't totally lame  :P
Got my L's! Overall so far after about 6 hours of driving I'd say: It's easier than I thought it would be, yet at the same time more confusing. It's not hard, and I find it pretty fun tbh, not really stressful at all. I've gone on basically every type of road, mostly country highways so far. So that's exciting!
Another thing I've gotten really into this summer has been vinyl, which is sort of suprising to me as well lol, never really thought I cared that much about music but I think i really do! I've bought all used stuff that sounds pretty good, favorite albums being probably The Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd, Disraeli Gears by Cream, and Abbey Road by The Beatles. Now something else to enjoy  ;D
Cheers

So it begins! Had Spesh, Physics, English and Further today. First three were pretty chill but the pace Further runs at is real different, expected I guess. Didn't actually do much of anything today in classes (yet...)

Ohh boy, big fat update time  ;D

So firstly I thought I'd say just in general how I'm feeling towards pRoPeR VCE, and that is pretty darn positive honestly. I really like the feeling of independence gained now, and being just in the swing of things has been great, I feel like I always have something to do and it's enjoyable.
Subject reviews (so far!)
Further maths
Ooh, year 12. Tbh it's pretty just idk, mixed so far. It seems pretty easy atm, but at the same time it's pretty boring. The teacher will write about one whiteboard worth of notes every two periods, and that's about it. Doesn't help we already went over most of data analysis last year, but honestly I find statistics rather interesting aaanyway, so its pretty ok? VERY yucky feelings about having a real SAC in a month, a bit nervous, a bit scared, but I know if I can get content done in a week or so, then I should be good to go for the SAC, and at the pace I'm going for this subject I'm confident I'll smash it  :D
Overall so far maybe 6/10?
English
Eeeeeeeeeeeh. So far "learning" argument analysis again, for what seems like the millionth time, and as usual I never really feel like what I'm learning is sticking to my brain. Something about the way English is taught at my school just doesn't quite click right for me, for some reason. The class is pretty childish too tbh, often talking over the teacher, but mostly ok? I also never really feel like I learn anything in English class. On the up side, at times it can be a welcome break from the notes > textbook >check infinite cycle.
Rating so far, 4.5/10
Physics
Pretty dang good so far! I quite enjoy the concepts we are going over currently (thermodynamics), and it's quite interesting to learn about things like latent heat etc. It really is like an advanced class on...things we experience daily? if that makes sense. The questions can be dry but also pretty interesting at the same time. However I have the nagging feeling what we are learning isn't the "real" stuff, as in it almost feels dumbed down. Conceptually I get it pretty well but my classmates are mostly struggling so who knows. Maybe I have a physics brain  :P
Rating: 7.5/10
Methods
I don't have too much to really say about methods? Thinking about it, it's like continuing what we did in year 9/10 standard maths. A bit wierd and absolutely not my thing. So damn dry! like jeez man, factorizing and simultaneous for the billionth time? Also had a mini practice test and kind of choked it. For some reason I don't feel like I'm taking this subject as seriously as I think I should, especially as a self proclaimed maths guy. Something about pages of algebraic manipulation makes me want to explode.
Rating: like 3.5/10
Specialist
wooohoo! Absolutely freakin love this subject. Easily my favourite. I don't find it intimidating, or anything like that. It's honestly super interesting to learn high level maths concepts or at least high level for me. Went over infinite converging series today and that's like the coolest thing. I also find the textbook work pretty interesting, having to put on my thinking cap so to speak.
Rating: 9/10

Overall thoughts on VCE again: I don't quite have the super motivation I had at the start of me posting this, but I feel like the motivation is coming back. The competitor in me can't see myself do worse than others...  :P
Also getting a bit of a weird feeling at night time, as if my time is getting sucked away at an alarming rate. Go to school, get home, half hour, study, eat, holy ^^^^ it's already 8pm! Who knows.
Hope someone enjoyed reading this  ;D
Cheers,
Logan

Short post:
First year 11 SAC for real (physics), got results back, and was pretty shocked to see 39 / 39 on the page. I almost feel like it was too easy, even though the average was around 60% mark. I don't know, doesn't seem like it was anything too special. Impostor syndrome talking maybe  :-\

Short post again:
I feel like I messed up my English arg analysis pretty bad,(well, by my standards that is) even though I put a ton of effort in leading up. It's like I just...forgot what to do, my mind that wrote practice stuff just wasn't quite there, and I was super frustrated in the sac. Want to throw things in anger grr, also making many silly mistakes on further, as the SAC is rapidly approaching(oooh! mixed feelings!) Other than that it's been pretty good tbh, got 96 avgd on spesh SAC, was pretty easy I thought though, got 91 on methods practice sac which I'm quite happy with honestly, methods so far has been one of the most difficult. Since I only did general maths last year it's been a bit wierd adjusting to the different type of SAC structure just in general ie, at points there can be no clear direction for questions.
Anyway other than that feeling quite good, we'll see about English I suppose.

Last week of term one update!
Hey all! Firstly, holy hell that term went fast!
So, I got my English results back and...I TOPPED THE CLASS??!!!??!?!?!??! WTF???! So really couldn't be happier with that. It absolutely boggles me that that's even possible, but I'm not complaining. Got all very high on the rubrick but one section, which is my best English result to date. Honestly an amazing feeling.
Methods: Did SAC 1 last tuesday, already got results and got 87% tech free, 97 tech active, woohoo! Not to mention that was quite possibly the hardest test I've ever done, like literally crazy. So overall average 92 and #1 in the school  ;D
Further: Also just completed the gargantuan data analysis SAC, and honestly I was kind of nervous beforehand but now? I don't really have much to say. I didn't miss anything blatant as there were quite a few discussions after each lesson, pretty happy with myself considering I think I was the only one to remember to reseasonalise the data on one of the questions.
Spesh and physics are kinda just chilling atm, doing vectors and electricity. Nothing crazy  :)
Cheers,
Logan

Update:
Am I the only one who... kinda hates school holidays?
Man, these holidays have been hard. I finally made the choice to break off with friends who, were pretty toxic and quite bad influences and I'd be lying if I were to say it wasn't taking a toll on me having nothing to do and noone to talk to, but hopefully I'll be back at it at school socially and in a routine again. I'm pretty good socially with a fair few people so hopefully I can turn some of those over into friendships. Note: It also hit me that in the last two weeks, I went out twice apart from easter with family (Have been for walks etc but actually out, twice.) which kind of messed with my head. I haven't really done any school work either, just sorta chilling being useless and all. Something cool that happened was a girl gave me her number at the start of the holidays! That was a pretty big boost, but in the end it just didn't quite turn out but I'm still glad it happened  :) .
That's the end of my probably a bit too personal rant but I can't wait to be back at school in a mostly social capacity. Good luck everyone returning soon too! Cheers

Back to school update:
As the name would suggest, yep, back at school!
Ditched toxic friends and made new ones? Check :)
English class not as bad as I thought it would be? Check
Got further result...99% :) (That one mark though....)

Spoiler
Hey all! Ah crap, sorry I haven't really been active here :(
So, here's a bit of a brain dump:
Physics remains my least favorite subject tbh, with further coming in at second last. English remains interesting for the sake of being something different, and a bit of a creative output? Specialist and methods are pretty great because of the subject matter and tiny class sizes for each of them.
Physics is boring but at least I am doing well in it - got a 100 on my last matter SAC! :) I unfortunately just don't find it that interesting, to be honest many of the concepts I have heard of or looked into before and the subject curriculum seems to be "a mile wide and an inch deep", that is, a lot of content but it's all very surface level.
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with further maths tbh. On one hand it's chill, but on the other it bores me out of my mind in class. Regardless I have maintained the rank 1 position, with a 100% on the financial SAC!
English is going, pretty mediocre IMO. I'm not really enjoying my new teacher and I don't find myself really putting the amount of effort into the subject that I would like. I got a merit/B on the last sac which is kind of what I was expecting, but I have to say that I'm still somewhat disappointed in myself. I never really took the time to improve my essay writing skills, which is one of the main issues I had/still have and that shows. I really need to pick up my act with this subject IMO if I want a 40+.
Methods is going quite well! The subject is really picking up in terms of complexity and I love it, as it offers something to really sink my teeth into, and I'm very happy with getting a 100% on the last SAC!
Specialist is honestly almost the same subject as methods, but with a different class tbh. Very happy with my midyear exam result for this one, 100%  :o But yeah I also adore this subject, always manages to keep me interested.
So that was pretty much my term 2. A pretty bloody good one for me! Currently in midyear exams and will try keep you guys posted hah.
Cheers,
Logan
