I'm going to give a slightly biased review of the Connect English notes ( because the lead author is my tutor haha).
In my opinion it is good because it has many high quality essays written by the authors themselves as well as some of their past students and friends (ALL the essays are 9-10/10 quality). I feel that's what many students would look for in an English study guide, as there is a lot to learn from reading high scoring pieces. There are 9 text response essays, 5 language analysis and 9 for context. The text response essays are the best which I have seen (the text response section in general has a large range in quality as many students tends to not know the book well enough or with enough depth and as a result write essays which lack sophistication and are shallow). The context essays are mostly of hybrid form (magazine and feature articles) and two or three expository pieces.
In terms or the approaches and structures for the three sections, it is very detailed for Lang Analysis and Text Response ( I particularly liked like their text response structure as its quite sophisticated). For Context, the guide is probably of no help if you are writing persuasively as there is nothing on that since it's the least common form. They don't have notes on the four contexts as its covered in the lecture itself. There is some brief advice on creatives and somewhat detailed expository essay structure.
There is also a fair amount of advice at the end of the book on exam preparation for each of the three sections and things of timing for the actual exam.
Hope this helps!
