Title: Which AFL team do you support, and why?
Post by: Joseph41 on May 15, 2018, 02:49:30 pm: Self-explanatory poll - let's see which team is the most popular on AN! Also interested in why you support the team you do.

For me, I'm regrettably a Melbourne supporter. My dad supported them, his dad supported them etc. Unfortunately, we seem to be seeing less and less success as we go through the generations haha.

I assume there'd be a similar story for a bunch of users, but interested in everybody's stories!

Ah.. The Red and White of the Swans.
I truly only support them through chance.

One day, my brother (way back in the dark ages when he was at school) had a football game the next day.
In his rush, he went down to Rebel and brought the first fitting jersey he found.
It happened to be Swans.
Fast forward a few years, and I now posses a Swans jersey, and hence, a legend was borne... Pardon the corny ending

It's quite interesting.. i've got a mix of teams in my family: Tigers, Bombers, Magpies, Saints.... only Mum is NM.

I really like NM as a team. They are constantly bagged by media, other supporters etc. but just remember: who got rid of pokies, who continues to fight and prove people wrong, who started The Huddle to help those in disadvantage etc. Couldn't be prouder as a member.

I suppose their 'underdog' status resembles with me a little bit.. proving people wrong after initial impressions etc.

P.S - Love the new sub-board 8)

I was always told that my great-uncle, Cecil, was the first person to start keeping track of player stats for Essendon. I don't know how true that is but they were very proud of it.

However, I'm rebellious, and was brainwashed at a young age by my older sister to go for the Bulldogs because they're the #bestinthewest, and we need to rep

My dad, his girlfriend and my brother are all Melbourne supporters, and mum was a Geelong supporter and I grew up in Geelong, but when I was a kid I was really animal obsessed and the tiger was my favourite animal so made sense right? What ensued was two decades of suffering, but that poorly made childhood decision has finally paid off.

There are some Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Melbourne, Richmond, Geelong and Sydney fans who feel a little bit jipped by that statement :p
