Is it possible if I chose an economics, finance and/or actuary major?
(I know its not possible to double major in actuary)

Anything is possible, but it defeats the purpose.

You'd probably need to do some Comm units with UMEP or MUEP and plan your course out so perfectly, including overloading over summer and your 2nd year. I don't think it's worth the added stress as well as the lower grades you will recieve from doing so. Grad roles are pretty competitive now and you need to have the best GPA and extra-curriculars in order to get the top top jobs.

I don't understand why this fad of finishing a degree less than the minimum time required is going around. The best time of your life will probably be at uni.
1. Where else would you get the opportunity to have 3 months off during summer?
2. Which workplace would let you take up to a whole year off to go travelling, work, sort your life out, etc without asking any questions?
3. Who would prefer 12-30 (usually) contact hours at uni as opposed to 40+ hours of working per week?
4. If you are going to UoM, why would anyone prefer to be sitting in an office cubicle as opposed to lying on South Lawn on a bright sunny day chilling.
Back to the original question, yes it is possible but requires a hell of a lot of overloading and a lot of skill to overcome uni bureaucracy.

You will most likely kill yourself doing it but yes, you can cram a commerce degree into 2 yrs. However, you will need to be able to achieve very good grades for the uni to allow you to over-load.

Ok cool, cool. I will be moving to Melbourne should I be going to UoM, so I'm just trying to reduce accommodation + any unseen costs. I'm sure if I can't do it in 2 years, 2.5 years should be viable as well.
Also, is distance education possible in uni? Off-campus study? (Just like DECV for high school)

A lot of the commerce subjects have their lectures broadcasted online. However, almost all subjects require mandatory attendance of tutorials.
Keep in mind tutes are a must if u want to achieve good grades as a lot of exam questions are discussed in tutorials. (economics and finance subjects in particular).

It's probably possible if you do summer subjects and overload like crazy. But whyyy? Uni is the best time ever.. Once you go into "the real world" and get a job, life is boring and you probably (almost definitely) won't have much spare time. My recommendation is to have some time to sit back and enjoy "uni life"! Once you start at uni you'll see how good it is :)

Wouldn't really say so with an economics major. They only run micro in semester 1 and macro in semester 2 and there's one for every level. There's not really that many summer subjects on offer. I wouldn't recommend finishing in 2.5 years if you're planning to do honours. Also, a big part of commerce is internships and taking part in activities/committees.
