For the KLD event, I put as my first preference 'Engineering System Design 1' (cause Ashmi over here loves her maths and design in one place) and then for second preference I put 'Introduction to Mathematics'. (I didn't really see myself being able to sit through a lecture about Australian wildlife.... Give me an update when you pick which lectures you are going too! :D)
Just going to jump in to say that I have Engineering Systems design as my first preference too! Then Introduction to Microeconomics... hope to see you there! :D
somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

Ok angrybiscuits, we seriously need to meet up in advance! ;D (It's rare to see anyone on the forums that is part of KLD. I'm going to be slightly sad if we actually miss each other)
This is gonna be one epic meetup, I can feel it 🤣.
I really hope to see you there! (Watch me flood your dms along with Choco in the days leading up to the event. Good choice with picking Engineering Systems by the way. Microeconomics actually sounds kinda interesting now that you mention it)

Also, if anyone else is part of KLD and is going to the event, we would love to see you there~

I was part of KLD and it was a Kwonger that introduced me to AN but maybe I don't count because I'm in uni now :P

I feel like there should be a bunch of KLD ANers ...  would be weird if it was only the two of you

I'm sure there are a few Kwongers which are still hiding somewhere deep in the AN Forums... :P (Hopefully we will find you eventually ;D) (You count as a wise KLD don't worry)

AN sounds like the perfect hotspot for KLDs so maybe they are here but not really here (if you get what I'm saying!)

That KLD event sounds really fun! I'm in KLD Class of 2021 and we have an event, "A Day at Melbourne", on April 4. We have to choose 2 sessions from these different workshops and lectures and I've put down the Engineering and Economics sessions as my first two preferences. Hope you enjoy yours, it should be a lot of fun!  :)

Oh my lord, I remember the"Day at Melbourne" event and it was so good! You are going to have so much fun and it is a great time to socialise with others. (And yo the food is good too).
I really hope you enjoy the day and make some new friends! (Let's see if there is anyone on AN part of the 2021 class :P)

✰Update: 22/03✰

It's been a while since I've updated this journal. I can't believe how much stuff happens in between these journal entries sometimes but now I'm just going to get straight to the point. This virus is seriously putting a lot of unnecessary stress onto everything. Our school will probably go virtual soon by the looks of it, and I'm not looking forward to it. A good chunk of my subjects need face-to-face learning or some equipment that I don't have at home, which is seriously going to take its toll (I'm looking at you PDT and Physics). We are all in this together at least!

Currently, I have a Methods test (not a SAC but a moderation test) on Thursday and also a Physics SAC on Friday, however, if they really do plan to end school early on the Friday, I'm extremely worried my teacher is going to push the Physics SAC to a Wednesday which I am really not prepared for. Everything is really spiralling our of control.

Ok now onto the subject based stuff!

✰Physics✰
So some good things and bad things. Good thing was on my Spring SAC, I only lost a mark!! If I was a tad bit calmer during the SAC I probably would have picked it up but overall, I'm quite happy with the results.

We have a SAC on circular motion and special relativity this upcoming Friday (well I hope), and special relativity is sort of not cooperating with me right now. I'm just going to finish checkpoints on Special Rel today and then get straight into some more practise questions before the SAC! This subject is probably the one I'm most worried about because I find it almost impossible to learn if I don't see a tutorial/demo and with the school closing idea, Physics will probably become my ultimate worst subject.

✰PDT✰
Oh lord, I don't even know where I start with this subject. I'm really worried about my folio and overall making my final product. Due to the virus, everyone is stockpiling and it is also having a toll on the sewing/art supplies I'm planning to use to make my final product. I need to make a final design option soon (which takes a really long time to get a perfectly rendered design), get it approved by my end user and then hunt down the fabric before there is nothing left. It also means that I might have to fork out some money to pay for an overlocker to get my product to meet the criteria I set up for it.

Nearly everything that I've set up for this subject is crumbling. I'm sort of cornered to the point where I have to start mad-rushing my folio to get fabric and not only that pay for a whole new overlocker because I doubt my school will lend it (we only have 3 overlockers between our PDT class). Worst case scenario I run off to my friends house to use it but at least I have a basic sewing machine!
Also, the Top Designs exhibition got cancelled this year and I can sympathise with all those students that tried so hard to get in and only to not have their products looked at by the general public. It's quite heartbreaking when you think about the struggle it took to get to the end of the Top Designs shortlisting.

✰Chemistry✰
Nothing much is happening in this subject. We are finishing off batteries for redox and electrolysis. We did do a SAC the other day and I pretty sure I lost marks just because I wasn't calm during the SAC (already have lost 2 marks on stuff I could do if I was calm and hoping that my score is above 45/50).
Can't say much right now but this is really one of the only subjects that if it was to go virtual school, it would work.

✰Methods✰
Cramming for a Methods Test now and worksheets are everywhere. Stay tuned to see if Ashmi survives.

✰English✰
Got my creative SAC mark the other day and it looks like 100%! Really glad English is at least being good to me and now I'm also cramming to get a new Argument Analysis which is due on Tuesday.

Also, outside all of this, I'm having massive doubts about all my subjects and if I could go back in time, I probably would have done a completely different mix of subjects. My ATAR goal is also slipping away much more quickly and now I'm thinking I'm just going to have to aim for my second preference. With this whole epidemic, PDT if suffering the most (which is also my 'carrier' subject and pretty much my only hope of getting to the dream ATAR). With the whole school closing down soon and all, it just makes all the goals I've put to myself this year absolutely unachievable. So yeah, everything is going down the drain sadly.
I feel especially sorry for the students that do solely folio subjects, it must be super hard on them already. I hope everyone else is going alright and take care of yourself. 💕

(Also, very weird question, but is anyone else using Microsoft Teams?  ;D)

Hey ashmi! That really sucks about PDT, but don't give up hope! The ATAR is a ranking, so if you are facing these problems, so is everyone else. I definitely believe you can achieve your goals - don't give up! And congrats on doing well in physics and English ;D. It would be interesting to see how folio subjects would be done if schools were in lockdown in the future, but at least everyone is in the same boat.

(Also, very weird question, but is anyone else using Microsoft Teams?  ;D)
My school has been using Microsoft teams for 2 years+ as a replacement for another online program we had been using in in year 9. We use it for everything haha - chatting (the main one lol), study groups, asking teachers questions after hours (literally teachers are always online it's crazy), announcements from teachers/principal, announcements from clubs, lost and found property, library announcements, resources for each subject etc. It's really handy! We'll be using teams as well if school goes into lockdown through the meeting option for each subject. I think lots of schools will be using teams/zoom since they're really easy to use. I prefer teams since you can upload things onto it and you can send announcements and chat to each other privately/create group chats/study chats. I really hope we don't have to move to online though, it'll be a massive disadvantage (albeit for everyone).

Good luck for the rest of your SAC/methods test, and the rest of the week in general!

Nice to hear from you Ashimi!
I'm in a similar boat as you are when it comes to PTD. I need lots of food products for Food Studies so I 100% relate to running out of supplies. Is there any way you can hire/rent an overlocker for a few weeks? I got mine at Aldi when they did a special, they are quite expensive otherwise from places like spotlight and linecraft even with sales.. Is there a local sewer in you area you could borrow off either?

I think alot of people are in thinking the same way when it comes to ATAR's, this is just such an odd situation were in, so at least there is some solidarity in that. Lets hope all the panic buying stops soon! Enjoy your last week at school (which will probably be the last for a while...)

Hey whys! That means a lot to me right now and hopefully, everything works out :'( ;D. (I'll try not to give up, but in the back of my mind it's sort of just sitting there... (I need that thought gone asap🤣).

Awesome to see someone else that uses Teams! (I love the private study chats so much)

Hey Geoo! ;D

I can't imagine how hard it would be to do Food Studies considering that all the supplies are running out in a blink of an eye. (Stuck in the same boat together with limited supplies). I tried looking at places were I could get an overlocker but really the cheapest one right now is Spotlight sadly... ($300 which is not too bad?). I have a backup person I can go to use an overlocker but they are on the other side of town, which probably means I would have to stay a night to finish my PDT product. Not the worst situation ever but will definitely take a toll.

Right now, we are in one of the weirdest situations and I'm quite confused about how we are all going to get through the school year (Like are we even going to graduate??). The panic buying hopefully will die down soon, meaning we can get back to buying the stuff we need for our school projects!

Good luck Geoo and take care of yourself! ;D

Hey Ash!

Thanks for the update, I'm really love reading this journal!
It sucks about PDT and I can't imagine being half way through a final before being told that you might not be able to have access to the technology you need to finish it. Hopefully it works out :) (On another note, can I just say your cosplay (on your insta) is INCREDIBLE! I can't wait to see that talent in your final!

Congrats on english and physics (so proud  ;D ;D). Also I feel you in chemistry (a subject very easy to panic in aha) - was that your first SAC or have you already had two?

All the best, looking forward to another update  ;)

Yeah it sort of sucks for all the folio/material-based subjects right now but hopefully everything works out in the end! (Ahhh thank you very much for your kind words! Hoping it shines through with my final PDT product)

Chem aka the subject of PANIC ;D.
That was my first Chem SAC of the year so I was sort of expecting to not do very well in it, but hopefully, the electrolysis SAC is much better!
Thanks Choco and I'm looking forward to seeing another update on your journal soon~ :D

✰Ashmi's Artwork Catastrophe Mini-Update 29/03✰

Currently, I have 'art-block' and I thought it might be nice to give you a mini art update!
So if you have been following my VCE journey, you might know that I do a folio subject called Product Design and Technology ;D.
Well, let me say one thing, the folio that contributes to about 50% of my study score, that I work myself to death for is not a folio anymore...umm how should I put it?

That thing is looking like a full-on THESIS. (Just with a lot of pictures🤣). I kid you not.
In PDT, there are 10 Criterions that a folio needs to fulfil by September each year. I am nearly finished with Criterion 2 and already I have 30 A3 pages of work. I think I might even have a 100-page folio before I even get to Criterion 7 at this rate. I also need to buy another folio too cause my current one is nearly full

Here are some of the pages of visualisations that I've been working on this week and hopefully by the end of the day I can finish drawing another 3 more pages with my end-user feedback! (And even better, if I can start Criterion 3!)

Some more unfinished pages in the spoiler:
Spoiler

That's it for now! Once art block is gone I'll go back to drawing~ :D

Yay another update!! And always great to see an art related one!

Your folio is looking great Ash! The aesthetic is so satisfying to see - cant wait to see your final too!
(And can totally relate to folios ending up being wayyyy to long lol - I'm sure you'll be rewarded for your efforts!)

Hope you overcome your artblock soon  ;D
