Title: Semester off to travel pros and cons
Post by: rbe999 on August 17, 2019, 10:03:47 am
Hey everyone,
I’m a first year science student thinking of majoring in something bio related and either doing post grad med or a research pathway.
I am currently trying to decide whether or not to take semester 1 off next year to travel. I probably don’t want to do exchange (just because I think it would stress me out trying to do well while also wanting to explore/travel). I was wondering if anyone has taken a semester off and what the pros/cons of this are? Would taking a sem off stuff up the order of my subjects or is this not a big issue?
Also, I have heard that most post grad courses want you to start straight away rather than take a year off after undergrad. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks in advance!

I'd just do it. Everyone goes through their uni journey differently. That being said, exchange is a pretty solid option if you 1. underload and 2. can actually switch off your brain and go full Pass/Fail.
