Hahaha I am copying Nomvalt's thread to satisfy my own curiousty xD.

I actually have no idea what they do during tuition time...I never went to any individual tutor (only Jacks and Dr. He).

~ Do they watch the student do questions?
~ Does the student get a list of questions which the tutor then answers one by one?
~ Do they go through the textbook and teach them the entailed concepts as they come?
~ Do they makes their own notes, questions, tests, and exams and then go through them with the student, as if the tutoring was an alternative class?

I HAVE no idea =X

I tend to do a mixture of those things. First thing I usually do is ask what topic they're onto now, and ask what problems they've been having. If it's only specific questions, then we go over that. If it's the theory, then I try to teach them that in a different way and then get them to do some questions to see if they really understand. Sometimes the student is up to date so I get them to go ahead and teach them some new topics and get them to do questions as we go. Then depending on the student, I may get them to do some really hard questions. Different tutors go about different ways for different students. You just try to find the method that works best for both of you

with my tutor, I usually tell him what topic I will be doing next in Methods and then he writes a few sentences here and there whilst giving a few example questions which I copy down/attempt, then ramps up the difficulty and photocopies me a page of questions to take home.

Usually it can be a bit overwhelming to be taught a topic in 1~2 hrs but when im at school I can start working ahead since I get the general gist of the topic by then :)

2011 : English | Accounting | MM CAS | Further | Japanese | MUEP Japanese
2012 : BA(Japanese&Chinese)/BComm @ Monash Clayton

I do all questions in advance in my textbook. If there's any questions that I don't know, I ask my tutor.

my maths and chemistry tutors have been by group, but i did irregularly go to a physics one.

Pretty much what I did was take questions and also email him with what I wanted to learn a few days earlier so he could prepare.

I think that's the best way to do it. I hate going somewhere to learn what I could get out of the book just as efficiently.
vce: english, methods, spesh, chemistry, physics, geography.
