A place to share and learn new facts, no matter how weird, wacky or random the fact is! ;D

To start: There is a debate among scientists about whether or not fat is the sixth taste (after sweet, sour, bittter, umami, and salty).

Cashews are in the same family as poison ivy and poison sumac. You cannot touch the shell and must remove the oil  (by roasting it), before eating the nuts :P.

In Victoria, it is illegal to park within 3 metres of an Australia Post mailbox (as in the red ones you post in).

So I was talking to Rui last night (as you do) about that little rule from that learning to drive book. I told him that I probably wouldn't be tested on it, but I kept it at the back of my mind...
This morning I had the test and it came up. Didn't expect it, but did have a bit of a chuckle about it afterwards. :P

It takes the same amount of time for a letter to be sent from Queensland to Victoria as it does for a parcel from the UK to Victoria. :)

More people were killed by cows in Australia, between 2000 and 2010, than were killed by sharks and snakes combined in Aus in the same time period.
