Eric Woodward was a Lieutenant General who served from 1917 to 1957. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters by the University of Sydney in 1959.

Victor Windeyer was a Major General who served from 1918 to 1953. He graduated with a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws. also, holy fuck, just realised, it's another Windeyer

Alfred Bessel-Browne was a Brigadier General who served from 1899 to 1919, and then later 1940 to 1942. He graduated in 1909 from the University of Sydney with a Diploma of Military Science.

Hello,
Does anyone know how easy/ hard it is to transfer from one bachelor/ course to another?
Due to it being highly unlikely for me to get an ATAR over 90, I was hoping to transfer from a general Bachelor of Arts degree (where the admission ATAR is much more manageable) to one of the specialised Bachelor of Arts after a little while at uni.
Any insight would be much appreciated.
Thanks :)

I second this! I need an atar of 80 to get into a Bachelor of Arts, but I also want to do a double degree with Law, but I won't achieve the 99/98 atar required. I've talked to quite a few usyd students and they have said that you will need an average of high distinction scores, but even that won't guarantee you a spot. If the course is really popular when you want to transfer, then they won't prioritise you no matter your high marks. Obviously the better you go in your course, the higher the chance I suppose.  :) Good luck!

Thank you for your reply!!! I guess I'll need to try my best at uni then and hopefully I will be able to transfer  ;D ;D

As dcesaona said, I can confirm that transferring between courses will be based on uni marks, usually a credit, distinction or distinction average depending on the course. From what I know, transferring to a more specialised arts couse is distinction and Law is high distinction? could be wrong cause I aint transferring my degree lol. In Arts, depending on what you do, and uni in general for that matter, high marks are really hard to achieve so if you want it you really have to work your butt off for it.

(This thread is a little dead, oops!)

Out of curiosity, who else will be at USYD this year?
Any other first-years?

I know there are a few who are already part way through their degrees at USYD, feel free to make yourself known too.  :)
