Our ninth inductee into the ATAR Notes Hall of Fame is pi. Our first inductee genuinely active in the modern era, pi is an absolute legend of the ATAR Notes Forums. Tellingly, pi is our first inductee to have joined after 2008, signing up to ATAR Notes in July, 2010.

pi has made in excess of 14,000 posts, largely in the Victorian Education Discussion (~2,000), VCE Methods (~800) and UMAT (~750) boards. In excess of 500 posts in the Sport, VCE English, VCE Chemistry, VCE Specialist Maths and VCE Biology boards paints a picture of how influential pi has been in the last ~8 years.

Of pi's very many threads, perhaps the most successful has been this: How university works. With +110, it is, to my knowledge, the most upvoted thread of all time.

A long-time moderator, pi has held Honorary Moderatorship since October 2013. Until recently, pi held the record for most-respected user of all time, with +2,301 respect (as with TrueTears, accumulated before the recent respect inflation).

As recently as December last year, pi was helping out with amazing posts like this, this and this.

So, please join me in welcoming our ninth Hall of Fame inductee: pi.

Inductee #10, taiga, has some fancy red trimmings. "Why is that?" we hear you cry. Well, become taiga is a former Administrator of ATAR Notes, and that deserves special recognition. This will be consistent for any other former or present Administrators inducted into the Hall of Fame.

After joining ATAR Notes in November 2009, taiga made their first post in the VCE Geography board, and made more than 4,000 more after that, largely in the Victorian Education Dicussion, VCE Methods and Monash University boards.

taiga played a big role in the development of ATAR Notes, and is very much a worthy inductee.

So, please join me in welcoming our tenth Hall of Fame inductee: taiga.

thushan. Perhaps the most well-known VCE graduate of all time. Seriously. And also one of the best-performing VCE graduates ever.

But thushan is our 11th inductee into the ATAR Notes Hall of Fame for their contributions to the forums, which have been many. With 4,977 posts, thushan was only knocked out of the top ten posters of all time as recently as this week. A respect count of +614 (again, pre-respect inflation) is absolutely nothing to be sneezed at. Little did we know after this early post what sort of impact thushan would have.

A bit late, but I just joined the site now. So yeah, i'm in this year.

Along with literally lauren, thushan is ATAR Notes' most experienced lecturer, and has absolutely excelled in that role. thushan is also the author of many of our VCE study guides. More than 900 posts in the VCE Chemistry board alone shows the sort of contribution thushan has made to ATAR Notes.

thushan was a National Moderator from September 2012 until January 2014, and has been an Honorary Moderator since. There honestly isn't much to say about thushan that hasn't been said before. But if you're reading this and don't know about the thushan legend, just know that they have made a monumental impact on numerous aspects of ATAR Notes.

So, please join me in welcoming our 11th Hall of Fame inductee: thushan.

Yep, as Sine suggests above, 22 inaugural members. :)

The idea is that site leaders will be able to review this long into the future, and add members as deemed appropriate. Not to ruin the suspense, but these inaugural members are Honorary Moderators, who have served the forums extremely well in the past.

Do honorary moderators ever still post on the forums?
how did "honorary moderator" get its name?

1. Yes, sometimes.
2. Previous leaders of the site came up with it as a way to respect "retired" moderators.

If you want to continue this conversation, please message me privately. I encourage people to post in this thread and engage with the ATAR Notes champions ;), but I don't want it to become cluttered with unnecessary posts.

Oh, we're lurking more than you might expect ;)

Someone recently told me about this thread. Thanks to the AN leadership crew for this honour, it's really great to see some of the users who used to help me back in VCE (... 7-8 years ago!) get a bit of attention again. What some of those users did on this site was phenomenal and they laid the platform for the great resource that AN is today. To be among them is a real privilege.

Congrats for getting into the HoF, pi, really deserved. Your contributions have had a long-lasting impact. It's just a pity that your greatest achievement, this thread, went un-noticed in the description of your importance to the site! ;P

b^3 is our 12th inductee to the ATAR Notes Hall of Fame.

After joining in mid-2011, b^3 has made more than 3,500 posts across the forums. Math threads were a particular highlight, with 800+ of b^3's posts being in the VCE Methods board, and another 500+ in VCE Specialist Maths. These forums (and making threads like this) are a big part of why b^3 has spent 180+ days across the site.

b^3 is perhaps best known, though, for:
1. Practice Exam Tracker and Statistics (Spreadsheet) Version Pi- The FINAL Version. Pretty wicked!
2. WAM, GPA (4.0), HWA Calculator (MONASH). Groovy as!

And in my stalking, I also came across this thread, celebrating ATAR Notes reaching 50,000 members as of January 2013. Five years later, we now have more than quadruple that. We've come a long way! ;D A particularly pertinent quote that still holds true to this day:

And that's the strength of AN: we can count on it being there for us, all the time. That’s what makes a great community, and that’s what makes this community. And I’m proud to be part of it.

b^3 was a National Moderator from May 2013 until February 2014, and has been an Honorary Moderator since.

Parting words via b^3's personal text: "Overloading, just don't do it." ;)

So, please join me in welcoming our 12th Hall of Fame inductee: b^3.

Inductee #13? Lasercookie.

Across just over five years of activity (mid-2011 to mid-2016), Lasercookie contributed 3,000+ posts and 70 threads to the ATAR Notes Forums, including more than 500 posts in VCE Physics alone. Such activity led to more than 150 days spent on the site.

Lasercookie pioneered the Useful Resources and Guides thread, which has is still stickied and updated semi-regularly.

Their last post to date was in a thread titled, "The New Direction of ATAR Notes", lending their thoughts as to how AN could be improved in the future. That's what I love about ATAR Notes - there's always a willingness to give.

Lasercookie became a National Moderator in May 2013, and held that role until selflessly stepping down in February 2014. They have been an Honorary Moderator since: a great reflection of their contributions to the ATAR Notes Community.

So, please join me in welcoming our 13th Hall of Fame inductee: Lasercookie.

Phy124 is our 14th inductee into the ATAR Notes Hall of Fame.

Six years of activity, almost 1,500 posts and just under 500 respect. Very impressive, and that's what Phy124 holds. They were most prominent in the VCE Methods forum, which houses more than a quarter of Phy124's total posts, but were also prominent in the Monash University and Victorian Education Discussion boards.

Phy124 was a National Moderator for about two years, which is a long time to be looking after the forums in such a capacity. They transitioned into an Honorary Moderator role in October 2015 - richly deserved.

A quick shout-out to Phy124's most recent post, which can be found here, demonstrates the sort of energy and positive vibes they promoted. ;)

So, please join me in welcoming our 14th Hall of Fame inductee: Phy124.

Inductee #15 is the ever-excellent alondouek.

The first thing I will say is this: get a load of these threads! Amazing. [1] [2]

alondouek contributed significantly to the forums in many domains. After joining in mid-2012 and making their first post by late 2012, alondouek made almost 3,000 posts across the site - including a mammoth ~750 in the Monash University board.

alondouek was very involved in the university boards, particularly in regard to subject reviews. As you might be aware, our uni subject review threads are some of our most popular and successful of all time, and alondouek spent many hours tirelessly (thanklessly?) updating these.

A National Moderator for more than two years (January 2014 - June 2016), alondouek has filled the position of Honorary Moderator ever since.

So, please join me in welcoming our 15th Hall of Fame inductee: alondouek.
