CHM1022 needing CHM1011

Hey everyone

I am currently enrolled in CHM1011 and have found it extremely dry and boring. The whole unit seems extremely Physics heavy which isn't really something I enjoy. However, I looked at the curriculum for CHM1022 and that seems more interesting with Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. Would it be possible to drop CHM1011 and just do CHM1022 next semester? I've also completed 3/4 Chemistry at VCE level last year.

Btw is CHM needed to get into Postgraduate Medicine if I'm already doing BIO?

Yes, you can. I did CHM1022 first and did CHM1011 the semester after, so it should be OK.

Remember that you will also need to consider whether you have completed two Level 1 sequences to satisfy your degree.

I’m not great with post grad med questions, but AFAIK, it really depends on the major/minors you’re hoping to take to fulfil the post grad med prereqs and whether Chem is required for those. If you do something like Biochem, I would be cautious.
VCE: Psych | Eng Lang | LOTE | Methods | Further | Chem
Uni: Bachelor of Science (Hons) - genetics
Current: working (sporadically on AN)

My memory tells me that chm1011 is most physics-y at the start and chm1022 isn't very different in its level of being physics-like but there are other people around who have more recent experience and might disagree

Yeah I decided to drop CHM1011 and pick up another unit instead with potential of doing CHM1022 next semester. I've got two Level 1 sequences which are BIO and EAE so I should be good in that field. In terms of majors, I'm planning on doing Physiology and Developmental Biology.
