Hoping I can get some advice on economics units - any recommendations and ones to be avoided?

I can't comment on the microbio units, but since IMM3990 is a research project, there's not really much different to any other research project - just as long as you have a good supervisor and pick a topic you're interested in. My advice is to ask a lecturer you liked the content of/liked as a person to be your supervisor - don't assume they have to say yes, of course, but they most likely will. If there weren't any lecturers you liked, just scroll through the honours handbook until you find a project that sounds cool.

Thanks for the reply :) I'm wondering about the assessments etc. I've heard there's a report and an oral presentation, so does that mean there's an allocated class time just for the orals? I'm just worried if I end up choosing a supervisor that hasn't offered/done the IMM3990 unit before and I'd have to explain it and stuff (and so far I really don't know much of it as to what's expected).

I will eventually review all four of my present units. However, if anybody is considering them for next semester, I can prioritise a particular unit/particular units. They are:

  • ATS2640 The ethics of global conflict;
  • ATS2683 The analysis of discourse: Texts, narrative and society;
  • ATS3627 Global cultures, local traditions: Creating and consuming (popular) culture; and
  • ATS3673 History and sociolinguistics of English.

Cheers.

Reviews for Law Units: Equity, Trusts, Ethics, Civil Proc, Evidence and Corps. They're compulsory I know but it'd help me decide how to structure the rest of my degree! Thanks :)

Hi all,

Being a prospective actuarial student at Monash, I wanted a review of the following subjects if at all possible please.

There's a big lack of ETC units on that list so I'll put some up. It's been a while since I took some of these subjects though.
Keep in mind Monash has restructured the actuarial subjects for 2016, so ETC3420 (and possibly 3530/2430) have split into two subjects. This is great for you, because 3420 used to be really packed with material and was easily the hardest subject in the major.

Sadly, I can't really remember much from ETC3460 or ETC3510. 3510 (aka MTH3251, the two subjects are identical) is really fun if you're into maths and very well taught. 3460 is a massive blank except that some of the mathematical derivations in the CAPM etc. are quite long.

 I would highly appreciate if you could do that :).
