I don't want to get into an argument about what 'real' mathematics is but I would that a and b would fall under the category of math :p

Thx.
Does anybody know how much radiation your exposed to as a radiologist? Since the images are made by rad techs shouldn't it be not that much?

Medicine is not very kind to your lifestyle. I think you should take a generalist degree like Science and then decide. Once you actually start university, you realise there are literally hundreds of careers that would be fascinating.

Anyway, you sound like you should become a scientist.

The german system doesn't let you take a general degree and then decide later. So I'd have to decide before going into uni.

What makes people think I should be a scientist? I mean on my city's uni, which I'd probs be going on, 3 Nobel prize winner studied at it and also famous mathematician Carl Gauss, so it runs in my blood :p. Jks, I'm not really sure if it would be the right profession for me, but I'm happy to be persuaded

Don't fall under the 'nothing other than medicine interests me'.  There is such a wide-range of applications of fields that it's just so obtuse to think that medicine is the only field that would interest you.

My friend is a mechanical engineer who currently models the pressure in the heart valves during systole and diastole and is working on something that is far beyond me in that field. Just find something you like after high-school and study it, so long s you do well in your degree, there will be LOTS of options for what you can do with that degree.

I'm currently doing a placement in diagnostic imaging at the moment so if you've got any specific questions, I'm happy to answer them Florian. Overall it's quite a good career though as far as I can see. Good mix of most of what medicine has to offer (allows you to see lots of different things rather than specialising into a particular system/organ), combined with lots of science/physics and whatnot which I'm sure you'll enjoy. Generally fairly good lifestyle as well compared to other medical specialities
