Title: Working and studying
Post by: Natasack on January 31, 2021, 09:36:28 pm
How many hours per week would be reasonable to work if I am studying a fairly demanding degree (3 days at uni plus some online lectures)?

I regularly worked ~15 hours/week in uni with 4-5 days at uni (definitely did less hours when I had assignments due or assessments coming up). Really depends on what you feel comfortable with, and it takes a bit of trial and error to find what works for you. Some people only like to work one shift a week, but some people will be quite happy to work 4+ shifts a week :)

Hi, just adding as well, I think it depends on (in the current COVID climate) whether you will have F2F, or will be studying remotely, or a bit of both. With uni going online last year after Week 4 of S1, I worked between 15 - 25 hrs a week. However, I don't think I would have been able to sustain this amount of hours if I was commuting to uni 4 days a week.

Definitely would encourage you to try and make a weekly schedule, allocating time for uni and other regular commitments to gauge how much time you would actually have free to be able to work. :)
