does anyone know if extension studies (UMEP) contributes to the wam calculation? :3
yeah they are taken into account
They are, but only if
- you apply for advanced standing (which everyone does in general, otherwise you're not taking advantage of the extra credit that you could have) and
- it's not maths.
I can only guess that maths is the exception since it's the only UMEP area where the "subject" you take for the UMEP program is specifically tweaked and engineered for the UMEP program, rather than being an actual university subject. In all the other UMEP areas (biology, chemistry, economics, etc.), each of the 2 semesters is spent completing an actual university subject, whereas in UMEP maths you do a "subject" that's only really similar to an actual university maths subject (
MAST10008 Accelerated Mathematics 1 if you're interested), and it takes the whole year instead of 1 semester.
I did UMEP maths, and, for me, on my BCom study plan I have MAST10008 Accelerated Mathematics 1 listed as "exempt"; there's no score there and manual calculation of my WAM shows that my UMEP maths score doesn't count towards my BCom WAM. While I have completed 13 of my BCom subjects, only 12 scores are used to calculate my BCom WAM.
