regarding the timing of punishment, does anyone remember that the higher the order of animal (e.g. humans) the more capable they are of learning with delay? humans can overcome this because we know that reinforcement/ punishment will eventually come.

Combination of 1 Neap practise paper and 1 IARTV CSE 2010 paper. I used to think IARTV CSE was reputable...

actually, I don't think 3 is B, since higher order beings such as humans can actually associate punishment to a specific behaviour even after a relatively long period of time.

I assumed it meant extinction, that's just what i've been conditioned to expect from these forums when VR/VI is mentioned. if you take both into account, VR is the most efficient, it has a more reliable acquisition rate and is resistant to extinction. VI takes a great deal of time to acquire and is resistant to extinction

does not fixed ratio have the quickest response rate and acquisition out of all partial schedules of reinforcement?

but its resistance to extinction isn't as high.

EDIT: i'm just suggesting people could take into account BOTH acquisition AND extinction when assessing such a vague question

Reason I thought question 3 was C:

2006 assessor's report
"for punishment to be effective, it should be presented immediately following the undesirable behaviour"

C. It can be administered some time after the crime and still be highly effective.

but when they are asking about which is more effective as reinforcement, wouldn't that be referring to which is the most effective at increasing the probability/rate of the behaviour recurring?
then again, it could be taken to mean extinction too.
perhaps lets just agree that the question is too vague.

i went with the idea that by 'effective' it meant effective in resulting in a learned behaviour.
if you were to look at extinction then yeah VI. or VR.
the question doesn't specify so it's the questions fault for the disagreement.

that's true, however I think it's debatable
but that's probably what the correct answer was intended to be.
