Simple(?) Maths Question

Hiya, was just reading around the UNSW chat for one of my courses and some one said " the identity Ceil(Sqrt(n)) is either going to be n or n+1". Why is this true? (Can't quite understand it). Thanks--

Yeah am super confused, it's meant to tie into why the ceiling of two times sqrt(n) is 2k+1 or 2k+2 but i'm just lost haha

oh it's a part of an AI assignment, so I don't think I'm really allowed to ask about it directly. (They don't really define the variable in the question so I really have no idea what it is tbh haha - people are saying it correlates to max speed which you probably wouldn't understand without the context of the question). I was just asking about the Ceil(sqrt(n)) thing cos I thought it was just a generic maths thing that I wasn't understanding haha :p
