Pool and hooking, he goes out on it more often than not these days... Sign of low confidence or age? Or both?

If he's playing to beat Tendulkar (as reported in many subcontinental nations), he should stop now, he has no chance. He needs to play the game for his country and not for his career. I believe alleviating him from captaincy (like India did to Tendulkar) will ease pressures on him and allow him to perform at his best once again.

I still don't think the selectors will drop him as captain, if he retires that's something else. He's got more brownie points than anyone else in the team, so he can trade on those for Sydney
