I was thinking of writing a methods guide, but I realised that this guide covers basically what I’d write anyway. So, I’ll just offer a few words of advice to add onto this. I personally didn’t do as much of the textbook questions as I should have throughout the year, but instead I familiarised myself with exam style questions from practice exams and practice SAC questions. I recommend everyone doing methods to supplement their textbook questions with practice exam questions. You can easily get your hands on some practice exams if you ask your teacher. I would do questions from old practice exams which were relevant to the upcoming SAC. Just don’t do the VCAA past exams cause you want to save those for nearer to your exam. Also, whatever material the teacher gives as preparation for SACs, make sure you do it. There is a big chance that these questions will be similar difficulty and style to the ones on the SAC. Also, like everyone says, doing practice exams are incredibly important. However, if you’re at that stage where you can do 70% of the questions no problem, but you have trouble with those tricky extended response questions, I’d spend a bit of time going through those instead of going through another timed practice exam. In the lead up to my exam, I’d go through various practice exam papers and pick out the hardest extended response questions to do. I felt like this really helped me to improve my problem solving ability and find patterns on how to approach these difficult questions without getting flustered. Anyway, that’s all from me.
