Who's your favourite character, everyone?

For me, Hermione, with Dumbledore as runner's up.

After the first couple of books, where she's pretty insufferable, Hermione becomes one of the most compassionate, hardworking, loyal, wise, and social-justice-oriented people.  She's always most deeply moved by other people's hardships and struggles, and yet always does her best to help.  I just love her, despite her flaws, like the need to always be right. ("Despite" them sounds wrong.)

Dumbledore is so himself - he just sits calmly with being, uh, eccentric.  Blubber, nitwit, squeak, or w/e it is.  Or that time he invites himself to the Dursleys' in HBP.  Best ever. :')

EDIT: and yeah, probably OotP is my favourite movie too.

as much as dumbledore was a great character, he's also pretty shit, because there's no reason to put a child in an abusive home (although i do understand the whole protection thing). my favourite character is probably harry, as people seem to overlook him just because he's the protagonist, but he's got many great traits as well :-)

favourite movie: probably order of the phoenix (book as well)

Team McGonagall all the way man - but can we just all appreciate Argus Filch's running: hands on best at mimicking a horse

A difficult question.

Probably either Lupin or Sirius. Such fierce, yet gentle characters, who show Harry what family really is.
McGonagall ranks up there too.

But nothing will ever cut me up more than Dobby's death. </3

I started it last year, and throughout the first book I was like what the fuck is the hype around this series, some good points but the rest is way too... Roald Dahl-ish and caricatured for me? (lol you probably like R.D.)

I continued, and it got infinitely better, and I've become a thorough fan.  Especially book 4 onwards, it gets dark and serious, rather than being a fun little kids's fairytale like book 1 is more.

Banned.

Nah, in all seriousness, haven't read the first book in ages, but definitely thought it wasn't as good as the others. The last four are amazing.
Will let you know my proper thoughts when I re-read in a bit! :)

It can never be missed! The first two books are the most cheese, and probably influenced by some childhood nostalgia, but would recommend trying! First two books are pretty short. If you can enjoy the world (and try to ignore the cheese), you'll probably like from the third book onwards. If not, well, I'm sure we can all bond over another book series with you ;)

Favourite book is probably Order of the Phoenix.

My favourite book was Deathly Hallows (probably an unpopular opinion, I feel). Was Goblet of Fire for a long time but I feel like the last book was actually really well-written.

Favourite character would be a toss-up between Dumbledore, Neville and Ron, I reckon.
