http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-07-24/sikh-family-challenge-christian-schools-turban-ban/8737716"A Melbourne family has launched legal action against a Christian school for banning their son from wearing his traditional Sikh patka, a turban worn by children.
Sidhak Singh Arora, 5, was due to start prep at Melton Christian College, in Melbourne's north-west, this year.
But his patka does not comply with the school's uniform policy which prohibits students from wearing any type of religious head covering."
...........
Is this really just a case of a non issue? Students are required to adhere to policies. Here is an Islamic school, women are expected to wear this.. which is okay as it is policy ... http://www.salamah.nsw.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/A-Parents-Guide-to-School-Uniform.pdf MCC, which is the school in question... http://mcc.vic.edu.au/content/MCC_Handbook_2017.pdf"Head and/or face coverings that are related to faith-practices of faiths
other than the Christian faith are not part of the Melton Christian College uniform so may not be worn to school."
**Islam school, islamic uniform. Christian school, Christian uniform **
Lastly SAME Issue, different schools.. I
n the name of equality... if it's dictated at an Islamic school and at a Christian school... then technically it is no issue. These are both private religious schools which have their own values and such... so what's the issue here? They have their own right to set their own policies and rules.
