Bumping this old thread because I'm in a similar position. Just got an email from Monash TODAY telling me there was a difference between the two units (didn't know this, but logic really should've kicked in). Anyway I'm enrolled in ACC1100 which I thought was the easier unit but its actually the more in depth one. I've not touched economics/accounting/business management in VCE ever and I'm worried this unit may be too difficult for me. Does anyone know if they cover all the basics in this so called introduction. Is a raw 32 in methods gonna be enough to understand the mathematical concepts?

Mod edit: Split topic from previous one due to 4 year gap between posts. Original topic can be found here.

I've heard that ACC1100 is designed more for those hoping to undertake Accounting as a major, otherwise ACC1200 is the way to go.

Ok, so is it possible to unenrol from this unit now. Is it at all possible to keep up.

pm’s have been pretty full so I haven’t been responding to everything. I don’t have FB (Ik, I’m socially inept and behind but I’m working on it and will definitely join once I get it!) sorry for that :)

You should be able to change the unit around (only that one though, as all other Law/Comm 1st year units are compulsory) until the 28th.

No worries!

In terms of the transfer applicability, it shouldn't matter. As simple as if you think you'll even consider doing Accounting as your major, choose ACC1100, otherwise, ACC1200 is the way to go.

100% agree with Jimmmy. I picked ACC1100 because I'd done accounting in VCE and found it to be taught very well. What I didn't realise was that I needed it for my actuarial science degree, so I was glad I picked it when I did. But yeah I'd recommend doing 1100 over 1200, as although it's more in-depth, 1100 will be way more beneficial as even if you don't want to do an accounting major you still might change your mind in the future and it's compulsory for actuarial science as well.

kind of related question - If I were to choose ACC1200 for sem 1, am I still eligible to do ACC1100 in sem 2?

Yep that's fine. You just can't do 1200 after 1100, only 1100 after 1200. It's in place in case you change your mind about an accounting major, to make sure that everyone's on the same page.
