Help me with a quote/ techniques

Hi all,

I'm struggling with finding a techniques in these two quotes; (they're from tuft of flowers by Robert Frost"

“a leaping tongue of bloom the scythe had spared”
“not for us… but from sheer morning gladness at the brim”

I'm aiming for a technique or two per quote and all I have so far is personification for the first one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you use anthropomorphism instead?
Perhaps also an allusion to the evasion of death? ("scythe had spared")

“not for us… but from sheer morning gladness at the brim”

I think you can use ellipsis as a technique in this excerpt, but I'm faltering on any additional viable techniques, sorry.
Maybe "brim" as a metonym for precipice or edge? 

You should probably procure a second opinion, as I am not the best at English analysis.

In addition to above (thanks heaps miss_demeanour!):

“a leaping tongue of bloom the scythe had spared” - Sibilance at the end there in addition to anthropomorphism!

“not for us… but from sheer morning gladness at the brim” - I think this is figurative language in addition to ellipsis!
