This totally depends on the difficulty of your school sacs and also the difficulty of the exam. Therefore it's actually impossible to answer this question based solely on the information you provided. Try your best and best of luck!

My methods teacher, who has 30 years of experience in teaching vce mathematics and knows a lot about how atars are calculated, say that if you get 45-50% in the year 12 exams, you'll get a 30 raw study score

probably, just have a look at previous years averages and that is what yields a 30 raw score since 30 is the middle of the bell curve.

If I get 30/40 in exam 1 and 50/80 in exam 2 for methods, would i get a 35 raw study score?

From my knowledge, I don't quite know what exact scores you'll need in each exam to get a 35, but if you can average 75%ish across both exams you'll most likely get something near that

Last year you needed roughly 27/40 + 55/80 for a 35 SS given your sac scores correlated.

You could score higher on one portion and get lower on another portion to get the same study score too.

Where do you find this information? Is it published by VCAA?

google "grade distributions" and the year you want and you can use that data and knowledge of the bell curve to make some predictions about study scores.

E.g. a 40 is top 9%
a 35 is top 23%

35 raw in methods seems a lot harder than people think
45-50% in the exam would get 30, but 27+55 = 82/120 is a 35
Does this mean there is a large spread between the raw 30-35 study score range?

Inherently the difference between a 30 to 35 is large (basically 27% of students score here), such is the bell curve. Obtaining /losing a few marks in that area won't change your SS as much . But if you go to the high 40's range 1 mark can be a single study score.

How did you figure out you needed 27/40 and 55/80?

I just estimated where the top 23% mark is for each exam.

The grade distribution doesn't tell the top 23%, so how did you estimate? :o
