Well how did every1 go??????
-
I did really well. Woke up at 9am, had breakfast at 9:30am, went on MSN...
What were we talking about again? If anyone has a copy of the Physics exam paper, upload it and PM me a link to it. I will try to get solutions done tomorrow, but VCAA Chemistry will be my first priority (I also have a Chemistry exam tomorrow... not the VCE one).
-
Exam isn't for another 1 hr 15 min...

:o I'd let to get those Chemistry solutions :D
-
Really good exam... I could do every question with ease.
-
i have a short attention span. i zoned out for a full minute during reading before i actually realised i was wasting time. HAHA.
-
hmm abit too easy imo
-
What do people think the A+ cutoff will be? I think heaps higher than last year.
-
I went through it with my teacher. I've already lost 1 mark, atleast. This is slightly disheartening.
I guess I'll have to ignore it and study for chem.
-
For the neutron qs, did u guys say it'll diffract or not? the ratio was abt 0.67..
Also the transformer qs, did any of u say that the light will glow for a second before it goes off?
-
I think I said significant diffraction will not occur since the ratio is <1, but some diffraction will occur (which is true).
-
Definately heaps higher...
Sort of reminds me of methods last year, where examiners will look for the smallest errors to take marks off... Then again i dont know much about the marking scheme.
-

Same here. The diffraction is not significant, although it's still there.
-
alright, so what abt the transformer qs? Do u have to mention the fact that the light will glow for a moment first when u switch from AC to DC?
-
I didn't mention that, I don't think it's necessary. Although it is correct. I hope I don't lose another mark there lol. =P
-
I dont think i did as well as i could.
I said diffraction WOULD occur, because the gap size and wavelength were similar. I didnt specify whether diffraction would be significant or not though.
I forgot to specify that the globe would flicker slightly at first. damn...
the emission spectrum questions stuffed me up too. all the chem + physics guys said that was really easy for them.
And the last question in synchrotron confused me too. I ended up putting crap down.
I think i lost about 10 marks, which i hope is an A. I got an A+ for Exam 1, so hopefully i can still get 40+
-

lol i think u had to, cos it specifically said in reference to figure 8, the globe.
edit: yeah you defiantly had to mention what happens to the globe
also i said that there would be no diffraction, but then people were saying they are in the same power 10^-11 (or something) hence there will be difraction
-
did anyone doing photonics find the last qs tricky? there will be no light reaching the detector at first but there will be as the beam bends.. lol the phrasing of the qs was also quite bad ><
-
We'll see :)
-
I did fairly well I think... hopefully a B+ sorta mark would be nice! :)
-
too many spectrum questions :P
-
Chemistry students would've loved them..
-
which sucks cos i havnt done 3/4 chem yet
-
my mistakes...
i said globe doesnt turn on instead of it flickering....and for teh one where u had to work out teh EMF i had 3 Volts...i think thats wrong someone confirm?
-
I thought that the Chief Examiner's exam writing skills have shown a vast improvement since the mid year exam, and he deserves a pat on the back for:
No typos I could see
When a unit was asked for, including a little box for the unit in the answer box
Generally providing enough room for written questions (although a few calculation questions were a bit short on space)
Other then that, I thought it was a bit too easy, hope I didn't make any silly mistakes (I picked up one when double checking, for not drawing the arrow on the energy level thing long enough xD) and my explain questions were good enough.
I'm not going to look at answers until I've finished the spec exam, but overall there was nothing I wasn't sure of =)
-
Yes there will be some refraction. I don't think I've lost a mark yet =D
-
my mistakes...
i said globe doesnt turn on instead of it flickering....and for teh one where u had to work out teh EMF i had 3 Volts...i think thats wrong someone confirm?
should be 30V.
i also said it doesnt turn on without referencing the initial flicker :(

30v

After some more answer checking, i've done terrible compared to the practice exams and SACs i've done. I'm going to have to kill Spec so that it makes it into my top 4, and Physics drops to 5th/6th
-
since cutoff for last year was 81/90, im thinking this year cutoff for A+ will be around 83 or 84 out of 90?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's ever been 83 or 84?And I don't see it changing this year. I think that's too high. I reckon it'll be same as last year, 80-81ish.
-
last year was about the same difficulty, yeah it shouldn't change much at all from last year
-
oh thats good news :)
-
Thank goodness I loved this exam. Makes up for my B mid-year...
-
AkirA are you Mindreko from BoS?
-
I just looked at the answer thread like I said I wouldn't, I'm still smiling =)
I wanted to avenge the mid year exam, and also for physics to have a shot at making my top 4, good chance he'll pull through now ^_^
Just because this is my favourite subject and I'd be pissed if it wasn't in top 4
Going to study for chem now, wheeeeeee
-

LOL yes! i got a B+ midyear...wanted to do better this time
-
That was a VERY easy exam.. its easy to see the cutoff going up a few mark.
-
too easy 100% for sure
-
too easy 100% for sure
-
anyone remember what that EMF question was out of?
I used 0.005 (Mag field) instead of 0.0003 for the flux :/
-
^ are you talking about the question with the answer 30V?
it was out of 3
-
i came out of the exam grinning from ear to ear
almost no revision in the last month, did half a practise exam yesterday and i thought i went well for my 5th/6th subject (b/c i know its going to be)
:D
it was easy, but too easy that i made stupid mistakes and other ppl are gonna get sooo good for it (100%) so the grade distribution will jump up. Oh well
-
I didn't think it was *that* easy. Alright, but not too easy...
Chemistry students would've loved them..
Lolz, except for me. I had no clue what I was doing with those spectra thingos :(
And the last question in synchrotron confused me too. I ended up putting crap down.
Me too... I can't even remember what I wrote now
-
Chemistry students would've loved them..
Which sucks when you're the only physics student in your class that doesnt do chem too
