ok

so just having a bit of trouble solving this question

The ratio of female to male members in a golf club is 4 : 11. What percentage of the members is female?

btw I know this a stupid question but I aint really good at percentages so I will work on them . . . eventually  :'(

could someone please go with a step by step process to figure out the answer

thanks

LOL I wanted to make a question thread.  ;)

Since 4:15 =4/15  multiply that fraction by 100% and ur done. oopsy rui is right misread the question

PM me for Methods (raw 46) and Chemistry (raw 48) resources (notes, practice SACs, etc.)

I also offer tutoring for these subjects, units 1-4 :)

Are you sure?

The ratio of female:male being 4:11 means that in total, \( \frac{4}{\mathbf{15}}\) of them are males and \( \frac{11}{\mathbf{15}}\) are females.

(For example: Suppose there are 8 female members. That ratio then implies there are 22 male members, implying a total of 30. And similarly, 8/30 = 4/15.)

I thought 4 out of 15 were females . . . and the remaining  11 were males

oops wait I just understood your theory and yea it makes better sense  . . . you're finding the percentage of the whole number of males and females combined so it would be 4/15

thanks RuiAce  :)
