I just did some quick reading and reliase that I am wrong. Non-Disjunction can occur in both meiotic divisions.
I have not time to edit my response above right now, so for now ignore that.
Very sorry
All good man 😀
Anyways, my point still stands that non disjunction can happen in both stages as opposed to one stage

Just a question,
Explain how some proteins are located in the cytosol, whereas others are secreted by the cell.

Just a question,
Explain how some proteins are located in the cytosol, whereas others are secreted by the cell.

Proteins which are manufactured at the free floating ribosomes are for use within the cell, while those which are synthesised at RER are secreted by the cell. Therefore, there is probably a pathway that determines when a protein is made at either location, but I'm not too sure of what that would be and neither is it required for VCE Biology.

I have a question that is not necessary theory related but more specific to the biology course. I'm wondering whether it is worth writing notes according to the study design, that is, with the headings being the dot points in the SD. Anyone know if this is a good way of doing it? Thanks in advance  :)

I am going to give you an answer you probably won't like, but it really depends on what works for you as to how you make notes. Personally I didn't make notes under each study design point and followed a more 'topic' based structure as is that of a textbook. I'm sure though that others have done differently and been sucsessfull with it. I think it's all about what you find comfortable.
If you asked me though, I would say that making notes under study design points would serve me better as a revision tool than for preliminary learning.
Hope my rambling here may offer some help, and good luck with biology  :)

I don't really understand what its asking and google isn't much help. TIA x

I belive it may be referring to chromosomes. They are structures which are made out of DNA
The only thing is that chromosomes aren't just DNA and also include other things like histone proteins.
Hope this helps :)

Hi everyone,
Wondering whether active transport solely uses carrier proteins or also can use channel proteins (which open and close)?

Active transport just uses carrier proteins.

Facilitated diffusion can happen via either channel or carrier proteins though (but you should just talk about channel proteins for VCE).

Hi!
I was wondering what the first sac on biology was and how it is going to be structured?
Is it outcome 1 in unit 3 on the study design?
My first sac is on the 28 Feb and I want to prepare ahead so I don't do everything all at once.
Does anyone have any tips to prepare?
Thanks.

Generally the first SAC is about movement across the plasma membrane, but that still varies from school to school. A week or so before the SAC, you should get a notice of assessment listing the topics on the actual SAC. In terms of preparation, if it's an experimental SAC, I'd highly recommend identifying the key elements of the experiment, e.g. experimental errors, variables, etc otherwise I'd just recommend revising the topics on the SAC

Anyone know what limitations mean? I'm doing a scientific method and it's asking for that

I believe that limitations of an experiment would simply refer to factors which cannot be controlled by the experimental setup but would still affect the results
